Çeşme's Progress
Well Çeşme has been progressing quite nicely in the past week and a half. He has overcome his fear of going out the backdoor, and even enjoys sitting in the kitchen while I cook in the evenings.
We've taken a bunch of walks with Chesapeake, and he's had the opportunity to experience Ellison park with Peakers, Durand with Tucker and Peakers, and the woods behind my mom's with Peake and MacKayla.
In the house, Çeşme has been lucky enough to no longer sleep in the crate, but has been granted entrance in our bedroom. He now has his own chair (formally Chesapeake's Chair) and he sleeps the whole night through. He also spends the morning in between outside #1, and outside #2 trips, racing back to his chair before the dreaded gate goes up and he's no longer allowed in the bedroom. (Yes, he's addicted ;-) hehehe)
Anyway, here's some new pics of us as a family :-)
This is Çeşme in his chair for the first time
Çeşme and Peakers resting after a long day of walks
And of course, the token up close and personal shot, because I have an obsession with taking close up face/nose shots of my dogs ;-)
This is my newst General Çeşme photo album (instead of doing seperate ones since I'm addicted to taking photos)

Çeşme's New Toy
Çeşme received new toys today for Valentine's day from his friends in NH! Here is the chronological progression of the stuffed toy (which is always Çeşme's favorite pick!)
Minute 5 of Use: STuffed toy has been spotted...Tag has been identified.
Minute 15 of Use: Yup, this is JUSTTTT right!
Hour 1 of Use: He's totally giving me the stink eye, thinking I'm gonna get in between him and the toy
Hour 1 and 1 minute of Use: OK, notice how it has a nice slick look...Yeah...that's all slobber :-) LOL
Hour 1 and 1.5 minute of Use: A close up so you can see just how much Çeşme loves his new toy!

Çeşme Made Friends!
Çeşme has made some major progress in the few days that we've had him. We've gone on two walks in the neighborhood before his anxiety level got the better of him (therefore forcing us to remain house/backyard bound for the past two days). On our 2nd walk, Çeşme made two friends. Tucker, a sweet, but somewhat skittish Bernese Mountain Dog...and Sofie, a very rambunctious grayhound/lab mix. Sofie and Çeşme spent a good 30 minutes running together and playing in the church yard/woods. Meanwhile, Seymen and I were introduced to all the neighborhood dogs.
Tonight was a very very special night though...Tonight Chesapeake came over to visit Çeşme, and help show him the ropes. Poor Çeşme is very anxious and scared to even go outside in the backyard. Walks have been confiscated at his insistance, and going in the car to say the vet for example is 100% out of the question ;-)
Well tonight, during Peaker's visit...Çeşme was able to run around the yard playing and chasing...and then we practiced going down the front steps, into the laundry room, and into the garage. We even practiced getting in the car and sitting. We had the opportunity to sit in the garage while the doors were going up and down too! Cesme did great with his new best buddy Chesapeake. They are going to go on a walk in the woods on Sunday, and all next week, every afternoon, they will be playing together.
Here's some pictures from our fun play night!!

Best Puppy Ever!
Çeşme has his first night at our house last night. He is the best puppy ever! He had a really big day but made huge progress for a scared little guy. When we arrived at home, after a brief stop at PetSmart to get some supplies and toys, Çeşme spent about 20 minutes getting comfortable with the whole idea of stairs. We think this was his first time ever using stairs, therefore causing his intimidation. But he did great and after about 20 minutes he got the nerve up to make it into the front entry way landing.
It went on like that for pretty much every room of the house, and finally made it to the office where he now feels very safe and comfortable…maybe TOO comfy because he almost refuses to come into the kitchen. He’s scared of the deck door, and eyes me suspiciously every time I ask him to come in there.
Once his initial exploration was complete, we decided that Çeşme needed a bath to wash away the smells of the shelter. So Seymen installed a handy hand held shower head and we gave poor Çeşme a bath. Once clean he stationed himself in the office for good.
We were able to take him on a nice long walk, which he did great on…but when we got home, he was scared by the garage door, so he and Seymen waited out front while I opened the back door. In the meantime, I think the suspense must have gotten to poor Çeşme, and he RANNN! All the way down the driveway and up the street towards Winton! Seymen ran after him and luckily caught him before anything could happen to him. Phewww!
Anyway, the rest of the night was spent letting Çeşme relax a little bit and become familiar with his crate. By the time it was bedtime, he had walked in the crate (to fetch his peanut butter bone…all the way in the back) and we had locked him in for a few minutes. He didn’t cry, got a little frantic and as soon as he calmed down for a second and laid down, we let him out. I think Seymen and I were more nervous than he was about getting him into the crate for the night.
Well, we both sat down, re-peanut buttered his bone, threw it in the back, and didn’t the smart little guy stick only his front legs in, and REAAAACCCHED and grabbed the bone to eat it outside the crate! Hehehe. We took his bone back and said: “Kennel Up” and after a few tries, he calmly walked in, we locked it closed, he laid down and we didn’t hear a peep out of him at all. We set the alarm at 7AM, and having heard NOTHING from Çeşme, I walked into the office where his crate was, and he woke up when I came in…
It was the best first night sleep ever for a puppy!! He’s so smart! We love him so much. Now if only we can get him to come in the kitchen and not be scared of the big bad door ;-)

Çeşme Brownstein Ertaş
The new love of our lives!!
His name is Çeşme (pronounced: CHESH-MAY) which means Faucet and is also the place that Seymen and I went on Holiday over the summer when we were in Turkey. He's an 11 month year old Great Dane/Boxer mix...and the cutest dog of all time in my opinion ;-)
Below is a pictoral documentary of Çeşme's first day with us!!
