Home Away from Home

So I'm back in my "home away from home". It's been super busy since I got here. I think I'm doomed to always arriving super late the night before a big meeting. My flights were so delayed I didn't make it to my hotel until 3AM. After 4 hours of sleep, I actually made it not only through an entire work day, but an evening out :-) with my friends! (Yup, I'm a champ ;-) hehehe...Actually no I'm not. I about died on Wednesday, from exhaustion...So tonight is my one night in to catch up on my sleep, and prepare myself for a fun fill weekend visiting friends in Oakland and San Fran!

My goal this trip is to do my Christmas shopping in San Fran with my friend, and FINISH it. I brought 2 bags with me this trip just so I'd have enough space to bring home christmas presents. That is my mission...because my time for Christmas shopping is quickly getting shorter and shorter! And I'm getting nervous! ;-) hehehehe

Fruit Tart Making Night!

Last night I taught my first cooking class :-). When I was over at my sister's house a few weeks back, I brought two of my fruit tarts to her party. Two of our family friends fell in love with the tarts, and requested that we have a cooking class night. So, last night we all got together, my mom and sister, and two family friends, and made fruit tarts! It was really fun!! :-) We made 6 smaller fruit tarts, and 1 larger tart. The larger one, I made so that I could bring to my family's house for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday :-) The smaller ones, everyone else was able to bring home...if they didn't get eaten before they left ;-), along with the dough we made in "class" and the secret ingredient.

Anyway, it was such a hit that they have want to do two more classes :-) Petite Fours and covering a cake with Fondant :-) I see a little side business in the midsts ;-)

Back from Florida

So we came home last night from our "Whirlwind for Seymen" vacation weekend in Florida. It was a nice time, but unfortunately, I got sick for the weekend portion, which was a total bummer. After all my meetings on THursday, I picked up our rental car (White Mustang) and drove from Miami to the West Palm Beach area. Friday, night Seymen joined me for the rest of the weekend! On Saturday, I woke up with a completely stuffed nose, and a cough. I spent the rest of the weekend drugged up, walking around in a daze. But it actually made for a fun time when flying :-) And luckily my ears didn't pop or hurt with the pressure change...even with the stuffed sinuses. For the last leg of the trip home, Seymen and I upgraded to business class, so for a little while we actually had a very "luxurious" flight home :-)

Anyway, today I'm trying to take it easy, but have much to do before I leave next week again :-( Unpack, laundry, repack, clean, grocery shop...aggghhh. I just want to lay in bed hopped up on Nyquil and Thera-Flu Thin Strips.

I'm so smart

So I started painting the office two days ago. We decided on White Trim and a "green tea" green color for the walls. So, I jumped right into it and painted the closet doors, and upper window trim white. I made some major progress last night, as I finished all the accessible trim, and painted 2 coats of the green on the upper half of our walls last night. Well today, I'm a bit pooped out...(Plus I went to another spin class this morning so I'm super tired)...I just went to go put something into the closet.

I pulled on the door knob...Nothing. Pulled on the other knob...nothing. Tugged on both...Hit the doors...Nothing. The closet is sufficiently painted shut. I don't know what i'm going to do, or how I'm going to get it un-stuck. I forgot to leave the doors open after I painted them. How smart am I?

Neighborhood Gossip

So I went outside to get the mail this afternoon and ran into my neighbor. They just had a tree cut down in their front yard! So anyway, she came over to pass on some more neighborhood gossip. :-) We had her and her husband over for an impromptu dinner a few weeks ago. We caught each other up on everything we knew about the neighborhood. Well, as it turns out, one of our neighbors MOVED OUT! We didn't even know it! He moved out in July while Seymen and I were gone, and before our new neighbors moved in next door! WOW!

Anyway, we are having another dinner tonight, less impromptu than before...this time I actually have time to go grocery shopping and pick up some wine :-) Last time, it was a bit embarassing...as I had just come home from a trip, and was leaving again a few days later, and decided to forgo grocery shopping...so all I could make was Reuban sandwhiches and rice-a-roni...even our milk had gone bad, so I had very few options ;-) Anyway, hopefully tonights dinner will turn out a little bit tastier.

Artisan Works Gallery

Seymen and I became memebers of the Artisan Works gallery this weekend. We decided to check it out on referall from our framing guy George. Wow it's AWESOME!! We were only able to spend about 45 minutes in there since we just stopped by in between errands..but we definitely plan to go back again and spend ALOT more time exploring. The building is huge and there's TONS or art!! It's really cool. We highly recommend it!
