We Have Neighbors!
I was just talking to my mom and she went to my house on Monday night to show my aunt our house. When she was there, she found out that the house next door finally sold, and she was able to meet the new neighbors. Apparently, they went over to introduce themselves to my mom. My mom welcomed them to the neighborhood, and then told them she didn't live there ;-) heehehehe.

Back to the Grind
So I'm back after a really nice weekend in Arizona. Man it is HOTTTTT there!! Phoenix was sweltering...Tucson wasn't so bad when I arrived because it had rained (monsoon rain!) so the weather was actually very cool and comfortable all night.
I'm pretty beat now after the crazy weekend of travelling. I flew in to Phoenix friday, ate dinner with Vir, went to some bars at the University (ASU or U of A, I can't remember which one is where becuase I saw both this weekend). In the AM, we got up and went and ate more food. Then I took a shuttle bus to Tucson.
On the ride down to Tucson, we hit a sand storm. (Very interesting...I've never seen one before!) And then we hit a rain storm near Tucson, where it had rain Monsoon rains for the day. The streets were flooded and we ended up taking a bunch of detours to get to the drop off stations.
The rest of my weekend was spent with Eric and his friends, exploring downtown Tucson and the local band scene. (His friends do a webcast show on the local bands in Tucson.) After an exteremely longgggg night (for me especially since I was out so late with Vir the night before) I was finally able to sleep...and sleep I did! Right up until it was time to go to the airport :-)
So now here I am, for another week at work. Only three more weeks to go and I can FINALLY GO HOME!!!! :-) I'm definitely feeling a bit homesick at this point...especially with Seymen's return to Rochester...I wish I were flying home this weekend!!! ;-) But it's OK...I will take one for the team and go to Napa with my friends instead ;-) hehehehe.

Phoenix Today! Tucson Tomorrow!
I'm totally psyched! I'm leaving for Phoenix today!!! to visit my good friend Vir :-) I was talking to him last night and we decided that we're going to do the visit New Hampy style! ;-) Soooo excited! Haven't seen Vir since Seymen and I made a quick overnight stop in Chicago when I moved home from Texas.
Tomorrow I'll be shutteling it to Tucson to visit our good friend Eric. It's the weekend for reunions. I haven't seen Eric in YEARS...since the last time Seymen and I went to Tucson. Must have been like 3 years.
This trip also marks my halfway point in my adventures. I'm definitely getting a little home sick. I have been talking to my family alot, but I haven't spoken to my little sister in about two weeks. Last night I finally had a chance to talk to her. I don't know why, but immediately, I burst into tears when I heard her voice :-) We both decided that we missed each other way too much. :-) She tried to get it recorded that I admit that I just like Rochester, and I should stop trying to have adventures outside of the area ;-) hehehehe. I told her, of course...but in reality we all know, in three months I'll have another plan to move around or do something a little on the crazy side. :-)

More Petite Fours
So I'm back from my weekend jaunt to Spokane. It is really so beautiful there :-)
Here's a pic of my petite fours that I made this weekend. I call these: "Modern and Less Fat Petite Fours" because I used a knife to cut (not cookie cutters...and no ruler), so they are a bit lopsided...and less fat, because I ran out of icing and powdered sugar so I only "iced" the tops ;-) But they still tasted YUMMMYYY :-)

Korean Roots
So I've been getting back to my Korean roots for the past two days. :-) One of my work friends is in town. He's Korean and he has been taking me to eat Korean food, and teach me all the food names, so that when I'm alone again next week I can go out and try some of the places in the area. I am throughly stuffed now ;-) Last night we have a big team dinner with lots of people at a brewery. After that, my Korean friend and I went to eat a 2nd meal at this Korean restuarant :-) And then for lunch today we tried to the Tofu House. It was delicious...
I think that if I keep eating Korean once in a while, it'll hold me over until I can get home for Shiki...but I have been having some withdrawal symptoms from too long without Shiki. Anytime anyone mentions it, I instantly start drooling and whining that I want to go home to my Shiki ;-) hehehe. It's been a bit of a hard week with all these Rochester visitors mentioning Shiki all the time ;-)

Cake Craziness
So I had an adventure tonight...I decided that I should bake the cake for Petite Fours tonight and freeze them to bring with me for the weekend. I went out shopping, bought all my supplies and got back to my room. Well it was then that I realized that I didn't have an oven in my room. Oppps :-) Well intent on baking the cake tonight, I went to the front desk to see if they'd let me use their ovens. No such luck...So, I called my friend and she was out to dinner so she sent me to her parents house! Wahooo! Back in business! Well, on my way there, i heard on the radio that the route I was going to take was backed up (still...at 6:45PM)...so I decided I know San Jose well enough...So I took an alternate route towards the airport and got on the highway there...Bad choice. I think I ended up on my way to Los Angeles. Well an hour later I finally made it to her parents house and was able to bake my cake. The good news is that everything else went smoothly. I didn't run out of gas on the way home, and I was able to finish the cake part before 10:00PM! Yeay!!! Ahhhh...Now I'm off to bed because I have three really busy and early days for work tomorrow...Nighty night!

Another Class!!
So I just signed up for another class with my new friend from San Fran! We are taking a Tarts class! This one I am REALLY REALLY REALLLLLLY excited for because mine and Seymen's FAVORITE desserts right now are the Wegmans Fruit Tarts! I can't wait! Here's the class description! I don't think anyone could resist taking this class with a description like this!
Precious Tarts and Pastries
Beautiful European style pastries await you. Students will learn to make delicate, crisp and lightly sweetened tart dough and techniques to roll out perfectly even pastry to fill individual tart shells. Together we will make glazed blueberry tartlets with fresh vanilla pastry cream topped with white chocolate shavings, caramelized lemon curd tartlets and chocolate hazlenut truffle tarts made with gianduja. This class can accommodate many different flavors and palettes. Baking Arts is happy to make substitutions in any of the desserts to accommodate your needs.

Petite Fours Class
OK, so finally to my first weekend alone in San Jose/San Fran! I drove to San Fran this morning for my petite fours class. It was an AWESOME Class. I LOVED my teacher, and I made friends with both girls in the class. The first girl was from NY too (on vacation), and she was Korean! The other girl was from Japan, and her ex was a Turkish guy, who left to go serve in the Turkish Army! How funny is that? Well the Japanese girl ReiJun and I became fast friends. We ended spending the rest of the day together, eating lunch and driving to Saulsalito.

Jess and John's Wedding!
So on the 5th of July my dear friends Jess and John were married! It was a GREAT wedding. I had such a GREAT time!! And I am so happy because I was definitely bummed that Seymen couldn't go with me, and I didn't bring a "replacement" date ;-). But it didn't matter because it was a TOTAL blast! And Jess was the most BEAUTIFUL bride ever :-)

OK, so here's my 4th of July cake! I didn't actually get to eat it though, because I donated it to our family dinner that I missed when I was in Jess's Wedding :-)

Horse Voice
So it's my 2nd day since arriving in SJ, and my voice is still horse. Apparently, talking/singing non-stop for 2.5 days, does not bode well for the voice. I'm finally settling in here. I am still trying to get used to the time change though. In the mornings at 9:00AM, I am starving and counting the minutes until lunch...and the same thing at 3:00 for dinner.
Last night I had my first night alone here. It actually went pretty well. I went grocery shopping and after lugging all my groceries to the top floor and down a long hallway, and down another, I sat down for dinner with a nice glass of wine. It was actually a very lovely evening and I was able to catch up on my sleep a little bit. But now, my energy is waning and I"m ready to hit the sack ;-)
Anyway, I'm hoping this weekend I can get fully assimilated and start getting down to business on all of the projects I have planned for myself while I'm out of town.

29 Hours Down, 11 to GO!
We've completed 29 hours of driving in 1.5 days. A big post to be coming after we arrive. Right now we're just so relieved to have internet access that I couldn't resist a short little post. Currently, we're in Park City, Utah, and it's really pretty. I think I would totally want to come back go skiing here, even though I banned skiing from my life ;-) I've yet to have a really good look around, but from what I could tell last night, it looks like a very cute ski town!
Ok, more to come later...and hopefully with pictures and funny stories ;-)

Hopefully I will wake up in time tomorrow AM for the 4th of July parade that I promised to attend. It's going to be my first day off of work since May. I'm really looking forward to just relaxing without my computer by my side...
