Mopeds
So Seymen's idea of the week is that he wants to buy a moped so he can save money on gas. We went out yesterday to test drive one that he found for sale...and we then went to the cycleshop to window shop.
In the spirit of support Seymen and his crazy ;-) ideas...I went online and found myself a Pink-Skull Helmet!

I get around...
So I called the Delmonte today to set up appointments for Kris and I to have a spa day. Just now I called Brow Diva to reschedule my brow appointment due to a potential business trip. The receptionist asked for my name and appointment time. When I told him who I was he said:
Receptionist: "I just talked to you today."
Me: "Me? You talked to me today??"
Receptionist: Laughing: "Yeah...you called the Delmonte today."
Me: "OMG. That's funny. I guess I get around ;-)!"

Memorial Day Weekend
We had a really productive long weekend!! Friday night after work, Seymen and I took a 2 hour bike ride around town. When we finally made it home, I was so tired and sore I thought I wouldn't walk again ;-) It was my first time out this spring/summer...but it sure felt good to ride!! :-)

Saturday we (myself and the other bridemaids) threw Jess her bacholorette Party. It was a totally awesome night. We ended up getting a room at the StrathAllen Hotel, and partied all night. Majorly fun. Here's a pic of the cake I made for her. Unfortunately, the cake was supposed to be a pillow...but it didn't end up looking much like a pillow.

Sunday after laying around a bit, we got up and started working on house projects. I painted the water damaged spot in the front hallway and the siding on the house, where they hadn't painted. Meanwhile, Seymen worked on replacing the florescent light fixtures and bulbs in the kitchen.
Around 3ish, my mom and Bill came over and we did some major garden work. We spent 3 hours pulling weeds, trimming, planting, and spreading mulch around the yard. Here's some pics of my new tomatoe plants and rosebush that I just planted...and the lovely mulch work my mom did.

And here's peakers helping to garden:

After all the back breaking work...we headed to the lake for dinner @ Bill Grays and drinks at Marg's. Here's a shot of the pretty sunset from the bar.

AND LAST but certainly not least!! Monday, Seymen and I spent the day with the NEWEST memeber of our household! PLEASE WELCOME:
R2-D2

We adopted R2-D2 over the weekend. He is our brand new shop vac! He was on sale at Home Depot for the holiday weekend and we LOVE him. He can reach all the way from the floor to the beams on the ceiling of our kitchen...and not only does he vaccume, but he blows air too!!! So, he totally came in handy when sanding our kitchen cabinets (to finish re-finishing them). We are constently amazed by all that R2-D2 can do.

Cake Days
So, I'm sure you are wondering...since I haven't posted any new cakes since easter...but Beth's Cake decorating days are NOTTTT over YET!! I just signed up for the 4th and final Cake Decorating course at Michaels: Fondant and Gumpaste. This is the class I've been WAITING for. This course is the reason I wanted to take Cake decorating classes in the first place :-)
Anyway, I will be posting ANOTHER cake this weekend too :-) I'm making a special Bacholorette Party cake for Jess (don't worry, it's tasteful!) but I won't tell you what it is until after the party...to keep at least a little bit of secrecy. Anyway, my plan is to actually start working on this cake tonight when I get home from softball...becuase it's that intracate that I need to start EARLY :-) Wish me LUCK!!

Nice Birthday Weekend
So I had a really nice birthday weekend. I was a busy one! On Friday night, I went to Danielle's going away happy hour. It was fun as always to hang out with LMNK people and see people who I haven't seen in a while. I was really good that night and was DD for Danielle, so she could let loose on her celebration night ;-).
Saturday, I woke up at 8:00AM and started cooking and preparing for the birthday party. Seymen woke up a little later and we went to Pier 1 to get our new headboard, and then came home to finish getting ready. We actually did really well and had everything ready to go and cleaned by 3:00PM. Which was perfect because we have 30 mins. to relax before people started showing up!
It was an ABSOLUTELY beautiful day, and the party was PERFECT :-) We totally made use of the yard, and had chairs and a table with food out back, spead a blanket on the ground for others and kids to play and sit. It was PERFECT. It was actually a really long party because people start showing up and leaving in shifts. Seymen and I counted and (not including us) we had a total of 30 people show up Saturday!!
Much later that night, Seymen told me he thought that was the longest party in history. We started at 3:30 and the last people left at 12:30. That's an 8 hour workday, plus 1 hour overtime!!!
So, I ended up going to sleep with the beginnings of a chest cold. On Sunday I woke up sick. Seymen woke up sick too...but the self-inflicted kind ;-). We had all sorts of intentions of getting up, out of the PJs, and going to home depot to get a ladder...and to finish sanding our cupboards...Unfortunately, the furthest we made it was to the couch, and occasionally out to the deck to pick up some of the party stuff.
By 9:00PM we hadn't left the house, nor gotten dressed. But we had to drop off my dad's car, so I went in my bathrobe, Seymen in his PJ pants (but nice sweater on top) to Wegmans (for nyqil for me...) and my dad's to pick up my car. (Don't worry...I stayed in the car with my bathrobe while Seymen ran into wegmans ;-).
So, sunday was really uneventful...but a much needed rest for both of us. It was the first time, in the 9 years that I've been with Seymen, that I've ever seen him take a nap. Amazinggg :-)

Beth vs. Softball
On this week's episode of "Beth vs. Softball", Beth had her 3rd softball game. Due to the 2nd games events, this week Beth chose not to invite any friends to watch her humiliate herself. She arrived for the game abour 30 minutes the designated start time. Danielle and her cousin, and the Coach were the only people that arrived at that point. Rain misting down on them, and the wind blowing cold chilly air through Beth's softball uniform, she dutifully warmed up, STRETCHED ALOT so that she didn't pull any muscles this game.
So the game went on. Beth played Right Center Outfield again. At one point she even caught the ball and threw it back to the infield. Things were moving along nicely, dispite the cold, wet weather. Near the end of the game, it was Beth's turn to bat. Feeling confident, since warming up and RC outfield was going so well, Beth didn't feel any of her normal nervousness.
She stepped up to the plate...Tapped home plate with the tip of her bat, and situated herself in her batting stance. Whoooshhh...First ball went by. Strike 1. Whooooshhhh...Ball 1. Whooosh-CRACK!! Beth hit the ball!!! Dropping her bat, all she could hear was "RUN!! It's GOOD!! RUN!!!"...So Beth ran...but she was hunched low to the ground...and suddenly, her legs and feet were tangled all in one big mess. She felt herself falling...FACE PLANT! Right in the dirt. With knees throbbing, and spitting dirt from her mouth, Beth pulled herself up and kept running towards first...
As she approached first base, the ump called: "FOUL BALL!"...WTF!! He waited until she was almost at 1st, and face planted for nothing...
Beth went back to home plate...Whooose. Strike 3...Back to the bench for Beth.
Yet again, this week Beth was again defeated by Softball. Tune in next week for Beth vs. Softball. Same time, same place ;-)

Gardening
So on Sunday for mother's day, we took my mom to Garden Center and bought her tons of flowers/seeds, and some for ourselves as well ;-) Now that both my sister and I own houses, we are trying to learn how to garden from my mom. We spent the afternoon yesterday planting flowers and seeds, so we can have a veggie/herb garden in our backyards. My task for this week (or within the next three weeks) is to dig out and create a vegetable garden area. My task: to watch the sun today and see where we get the most sun.

Not Just Ants....FLYING Ants!!!
Yeah, so we had an infestation of flying ants in our windows today. I was home all day working like usual. I saw two ants crawling in the kitchen this morning. I thought...OK no problem. I've been seeing an average of 2 ants a day since Seymen declared WAR on the carpenter ants on Sunday.
Well my dad stopped by after I finished working tonight, to see the house and the progress we've made since he left after Christmas. They came inside and sat down on the couches. My dad looked up at the ceiling windows and goes...um...Beth...you have flying ants. I look up and there was a HUGE swarm of flying ants. Like probably over 100 aunts all flying around.
Thank god my dad was there, otherwise, had I noticed that myself I would have FREAKEDDDDD out!!! So we called Seymen and he came home from work and he and my dad went to work exterminating the ants. They are now hopefully all dead...We have seen a few stragglers here and there, but I think they are dead. OMG so disgusting. So much for the exterminator people. They never called us back. I hate BUGS! Poor Seymen is wandering around the house with the vacume cleaner sucking up the little suckers everywhere.
He just went outside to spray some more :-) He's so brave! I'm thanking my lucky stars that while he's gone serving in the army, I'm going to be out in California...because I don't know if I would be brave enough to deal with this house stuff alone.

Weekend/Evening Projects!
Yeay!!! I have two outstanding evening/weekend projects :-) I LOVE projects!! Project #1, which is already under way, is hemming our curtain sheers so they fit the window...I have one done, and 6 more to go! EKKKK!! Project #2, is refinishing our kitchen cabinet doors. We've gone to Home Depot like 3 times to look @ cabinet doors and the only solution we were ever really told is to replace all our current thermofoil cabinets with new themofoil ones. After measuring and doing calculations I came up with an astronomical price for new doors.
Tonight, we finally hit the jackpot @ Home Depot. First of all, we had a very nice conversation with Joe, our regular guy who always helps us ;-) (Turns out his wife used to work at LMNK too!). Then we met Bill (or Bob? I can't remember his name now)...but he changed my life ;-) He told us the secret to refinishing our thermofoil doors. PHEWWWW!!! At about 5% of the cost of new doors, I am going to be able to refinish the doors myself. Now I am just crossing my fingers that all goes as smoothly as I hope! :-)
Seymen said that if I can successfully refinish the doors at this 95% cost savings, we can consider buying all new interior doors!! WAHOOOO!!! I think my favorite part of projects is the before...when I haven't started it yet, and I'm confident that I can do it perfectly...and I'm not nervous that I'm going to screw it all up ;-) But I have a good track record this week. My painting/matching the paint of our current curtain rods came out BEAUTIFULLY...and my one curtain hem job is good too...WISH ME LUCK!!

First Softball Game!
We WON our first softball game tonight!!!! WAHOOOO!! It was 11-9 (I think :-). I made 1 run, and hit the ball both times I went up to bat!! The only thing I didn't realize is that after 1st base, you aren't allowed to over run the bases...so I was on my 2nd hit :-( But it was SOOOOO fun! I totally have to go to the batting cages and practice ;-) Ohh and my new left handed person glove worked much better :-)

Softball League
So I can't remember if I mentioned the fact that I joined a softball team for the summer...but last Sunday was my first practice with the team. I was TOTALLY PUMPED for the first practice. I had my pink mitt all ready, my cute blue Old Navy sport shorts, and my new pink Nikes.
I drove over the field and met up with the team...and from there everything went downhill ;-) hehehehee. So, it was really nice sunday, the sun was shining, but it was COLD...I was the only freak that showed up in shorts! ;-) But it was OK, because we were pretty active, running around and stuff...
So we started practicing and whatnot. This one guy was throwing balls for us to catch and when we did we had to throw them back...When I threw my ball back, he pointed at me and goes: "Ummm...yeahh....we're gonna have to work on that..." HEHEHEHEHE I throw like a GIRL!!! LOL...but actually I just came to an ephimay yesterday, that I was throwing so bad because I was throwing with my right hand...not my left...I got the wrong mitt. I need a left-handed person's mit, so I can throw with my left hand. :-)
Anyway, my major fear was of getting hit in the face by a fly-ball. We were practicing catching ground balls, and fly-balls. (terminology?? IDK) Anywayyy...I was doing OK...I caught like one ot two balls! LOL...but then...I was going for a fly-ball at the same time as Danielle's brother was going to catch it...It happened to hit his glove and richocette onto my face...right between the eyes on my poor little nose. And ohhh boy, did it hurt...But I tried really hard and I totally didn't cry, and tried to joke it off by saying, OK now the worst thing that could happen to me has happened ;-)
OK...so I recovered from that...I continued on with learning how to catch (oh did I say that my position is Outfield?...Yup I'm an outfielder! YEAYYY). After a short time, we moved back and went to practice hitting...Everyone had a chance to bat...and I was like the 4th or 5th person to try...I did well the first few balls they threw at me, as in I was able to hit them...Our Hitting coach (i think if I heard this correctly...but I could be wrong because I was too nervous) used to be a pitching coaching for the NY Yankees!
Anyway, he came up to me and was showing me how to improve my stance etc...I guess I got all excited, because I swung the bat back on my shoulder and bonked him in the head with the bat ;-) hehehehe!!
So all in all, I'm probably the WORST softball player EVER...but I SURE did have FUN!!! and I CAN'T wait for our first game TOMORROW NIGHT!!!! COME watch us play!!!! :-) We're the team that has 3 girls with Pink Softball Mitts!
