Public Market

Seymen, my sister, and I went to the public market this morning. Overall it was a good trip and we bought lots of produce for really cheap! Just one bad experience in the beginning though...

We had just left the coffee shop, and were heading towards the outdoor stands. Some huge african american lady comes up to Seymen first, my sister, and then me asking for $0.76. We all said no and as we were walking away, she turns to me and goes: "You UGLY *SS CHINESE WOMEN..." I gasped, and then burst into tears. How MEAN was that? I mean for real?!? Did she really think that calling me something so mean would make me give her money? And I'm not even Chinese! WTF! I'm still really upset by that. Seriously, I don't know why people have to be so mean.

Anyway, on a more exciting note...we got a sweet deal on a dining room table, and actually BOUGHT it! We're so excited! We pick it up tomorrow. Our living/dining room is finally going to come together...And last night we finally bought sheers for the windows. (Still haven't picked out curtain material yet...but we're getting there!!)

Mouse Trap - Cover Blown!

Today has been one of those really crazy days. First of all, they never came to get the dumpster yesterday, so i had to borrow Seymen's car in the AM to go to the gym...But he had to be at work @ 8, so I had to cut my trip short...Then I came home and worked a little until the ITS guy called and was trying to help me configure my cisco router...When I finished with him, I had internet connectivity...but my phyiscal set up was wrong...I so I tried to configure the setup myself to how it was before...Well that didn't work out so well...I lost complete access to the Internet...Then I called Seymen and while troubleshooting...AFTER we restored our linksys router to factory defaults...I realized I had the cable plugged into the wrong port.

SOooo, anyway, on with my original story...So I was sitting at home...feeling reallly lonely, and slightly panicky because the internet wouldn't work (and you know I can't go that long without access!)...Seymen was on his way home from work to fix it for me...when someone showed up at the door. I went to answer it and it was some pest control guy.

Me: Hi.
Pest Guy: Hi! I'm here about your mice problem.
Me: Mice problem? Are you sure you have the right house?
Pest Guy: Ummm...Yeah, I have a confirmation here..
Me: 27 Hoyt Place?
Pest Guy: Yup...See here? Seymen...
Me: ...hmmm...OK...well Seymen is on his way home...should be here in a few minutes. But he didn't tell me you were coming. I will call him. So wait? We have MICE???
Pest Guy: Umm I don't know...Did you just move in?
Me: Well, we moved in, in December.
Pest Guy: Oh, hmmm..Well I've been coming here for the past 6 months...

So I get Seymen on the phone. He talks to guy and tells him to wait for him outside. When Seymen arrived, I walked outside...Both him and the pest guy had these guilty looks on their faces...

Me: Umm...Seymen? SO do we have mice??
Seymen: Well...no...not anymore.
Me: WHAT?!?!?! We had mice!!
Seymen: Ummmm...welll, yeah.
Pest Guy: (Laughing) Well aren't you glad you found out AFTER they were all gone?!?!
Me: Actually...YES! I'm REALLY glad!

LOL!!! So after the pest guy left...Seymen and I went to Wendy's for lunch...where the whole story finally spilled out...Apparently Seymen found mouse droppings when we moved in. He has been secretly getting the issue resolved on the DL, while I was either @ the gym, at work when I worked outside of the house, or on business trips. Apparently, the schedule was messed up and the guy wasn't suppposed to come today because they came last Saturday (while I was out of town). Seymen told me that when he was outside with the guy he goes: "Dude...your killing me!" ;-) LOL.

The other funny part is that apparently, everyone knows about this. My mom and Step-dad...my dad...Nate...and no one told me! I told Seymen he was lucky! No one even slipped up in 6 MONTHS!!! That's pretty impressive!

Anyway, I can't stop laughing about it...how much trouble Seymen went to keep me from freaking out and moving out of the house over mice ;-) In a kind of mixed up way, it was really sweet of him, and I definitely love him for being so nice to me :-)...that and I just can't stop laughing everytime I think about him getting a phone call from me to tell him the pest guy is here about MICE :-) He was like...ohhh CRAP.

Driveway Dumpster

So while I was in CA, Seymen had to get our roof work started. The people were going to start last Friday and finish up by Monday...maybe Tuesday. They came over the weekend and did an amazing amount of work, and were 100% complete by Tuesday of this week. So far, since the roof was fixed, we've had two rains and No LEAKS! YEAYYY!!! We love our roofing guy...(and if you need work done, just let me know and I'll give you his contact info. He's Awesome!)

Anyway, we had to get a dumpster put in the driveway for all the stuff that they were tearing off and putting on etc. This big red dumpster is now in our driveway, on my side ;-). Currently, my car has been blocked in ever since. It's been working out OK...I am still able to go to the gym in the AM, taking Seymen's car and coming home before he leaves for work...and I've walked to the Hess to pick up supplies when I was ride-less...but now I'm a little on the screwed side.

The dumpster is supposed to have been picked up by "first thing this morning"...Unfortunatly...it's still in the driveway...and my car is still stuck. I have to go grocery shopping and go to the bank to get something notarized! This AM, I tried manuvering my car around the garage, so see if I could get it out by backing into Seymen's side of the garage...but it didn't work and I hit one of the ladders in the garage...so I stopped trying. What I need is one of the "Worlds Strongest Men" to com over and pick up my car and carry it out of the garage...OR...the dumpster people to come get their dumpster ;-)

**One positive thing about having a dumpster in the driveway though...is we didn't have to carry our garbage to the curb today! We just threw it right into our driveway dumpster!! :-)

Novicane

So I had to go to the dentist to get my temporary filling removed and a permanent one (or a root canal) put in. It was a toss up what it was going to be...but my dentist (who is a really nice guy and knows I'm scared of him!) said we'd try the permanent one and pray that no root canal is necessary. (This is the tooth that my old dentist told me I'd need a root canal, and I burst into tears...and then she told me she wanted to hook Seymen up with her receptionist...which made me cry harder!)

Anyway, I'm sitting here and the nerve in my tooth hurts because of all the cold air/water they were blowing on my tooth...and you know that weird feeling when you can feel sensation slowly coming back...it's almost itchy? ....Yeah I have that feeling right now...and I just ate some JELLO, because I'm starving...and the feeling of JELLO in a half numb mouth...It's WEIRDDD dude :-)

Awake at 5:30AM

So I am using my blog/computer to try to put me back to sleep and I think it's working...I just wrote a few paragraphs, but when i went back to read them, they were completely incoherent ;-) LOL! So I deleted and now I'm just babbling on when I should just put the laptop down and go to sleep.

Anyway, I couldn't help myself last night. I was talking about it all day yesterday with my friends here...about this bag that I wanted to get to use as a laptop bag...so I went shopping last night and bought it. It's HOT...It's pink :-) I LOVE it! Just wait until I get dressed for tomorrow...My shirt for tomorrow is pink too...Hopefully I won't look like pepto bismal queen ;-)!

Good Thing

So I guess for my sake, it's a good thing I'm in California for the week. Poor Seymen has been dealing with our completely leaky roof. Yesterday was frustrating enough to convince Seymen that the roof work needs to start ASAP. I guess this weekend we will begin getting our roof fixed! Wahooo!! Because I'll seriously cry if water damage further ruins the red paint in the front entrance. ;-)

Kareoke...Etc. Night @ Thuan and Chau's

So tonight Seymen and I went to Thuan and Chau's for dinner and hanging out. We were really reallly realllllly late. Seymen and I were talking about this as we were rushing to get to their house...we're just a baaaad couple. If I am ontime, then Seymen is late...if Seymen is ontime, then I'm late. No matter what we do, when we do it together, we are averaging about an hour to an hour and half delay. My family had become the wiser and started inviting us an hour to two hours early, to ensure that we will only be like 15-20 mins late :-)

Anyway, this time it was my fault. I went to get my hair highlighted and it took FOREVERRR...but it was well worth the wait because I think the highlights came out really nice ;0). Anyway, when we arrived at the house, everyone was sitting around waiting...they held dinner for us...Opppps :-/ But in the end it worked out and no one seemed to mind ;-) They had already eaten an entire platter of Chau's egg roles, so no one was too upset with us :-)

So the thing that I love about this group of friends is that we are really just a bunch of losers, but have so much fun together. This group of friends really enjoys just getting together, cooking/eating DELICIOUS food, playing games and singing kareoke. Tonight, Seymen brought the WII over, we had a few Tourney's...Tennis, Bowling, and Baseball. Closer to the end of the playing of the WII, Johnny and Nate somehow managed to get the microphones and started doing a Sports Commentary. I tried to get on the show, but "Security" kicked me out because I was saying inappropriate comments ;-) hehehehe :-) Afterwards, we had group Kareoke, where we passed around the Mic. and sang along. My debut was: The Rose, by Bette Midler...Singing duet with Nate's friend Laura....ohhhh, and Nate and I had a really successful duet on: Fire and Rain, by James Taylor.

Anyway, it was really just a fun night...It was a relaxing friday evening, and made me so happy to have such a great start to the weekend. I still have tons to do before I leave on Sunday...but I did manage to pack my clothes so hopefully I won't be in as mad of a rush as I was the last time I went...oh and I had to pack extra because I'm making a quick stop off in Denver, CO for the weekend...to visit my family and celebrate Gina's birthday with her in Silverthorn! ;-)

Concerned Parent

I'm feeling like a concerned parent. I think our WII is sick. This morning I walked past it and noticed that the blue light around the CD opening was lit up...I got excited because that means we have a message! But when I grabbed the controller to turn it on, the poor little buttons lit up...1..2..3..4..5...and then nothing...no power on for the WII.

I quickly ran and got Seymen out of the bathroom, but when he tried the same thing happened. And then he had to leave to go to work, so we couldn't troubleshoot it. At various break points in my day, I have gotten up to touch it, check the remote batteries...but still nothing...I'm waiting with baited breath for Seymen to get home and do some "Doctoring".

I hope our poor sweet Wii isn't dead!!

Tater-Tots Weigh More Than Muscle

So I've been doing a test this week and last, to see if tater-tots were the culprit of my weight gain over the past three weeks...Sadly enough, I think they might be...Long gone are the days of sitting at home working, just popping the little suckers in the oven and munch on them for lunch.

I weighed myself today at the gym, and my test was proven. After denying myself the luxury of tater-tots, I lost 2 of the 5 pounds I gained. (And that gain was after working out too...so the choice was either...work out harder ...ummm nooo ;-) or quit the tater-tots.) So...I've been clean for 7 days now. I think I will have to have Seymen throw out my stash in the freezer.

Easter Dessert

Bill put me in charge of Easter dessert this year. I am so excited. I was talking to AnG and we just came up with the BEST idea EVER for Easter Dessert!!! OK..so...last weekend I was driving around on Sunday trying to find a cake for Seymen's birthday. I happen to pass a truck for Edible Arrangements, here in Rochester. It was closed, but when I got home, I looked it up on the internet and saw what they do...

So the idea was at first...to buy a basket and just copy them...but then I started thinking (while IMing with AnG) that I should make an Easter Basket Cake with the basketweave techniques that I learned in cake class!! and then put the fruit flower arrangement on top of the basketweave cake!!!! Taaa-Daaaaaaaaaa!!! A 99% Edible Arrangement!!! I'm so excited...and so is AnG. She's going to come over early on Sunday to help me make it. I think on Saturday I'm going to make a strawberry cake, and frost it with Turquoise Blue frosting. (I've been dying for a reason to use the turquoise blue frosting...there couldn't be a better opportunity!)

Anyway, standby for pictures after Sunday!! I hope it turns out as amazing as it looks in my head!!! :-)

Nine Parts of Desire

I'm going to Geva tonight with my mom to see: Nine Parts of Desire. It sounds pretty interesting...

The Story: Nine Iraqi women share the true stories of their lives before, during and after the regime of Saddam Hussein. Layal is a well-known Iraqi painter of nudes, who was favored by Saddam and refuses to leave her homeland, despite the constant bombing around her. Hooda is an ex-pat living in London, whose hatred of Saddam compromises a lifetime of anti-war beliefs. A doctor in Basra treats children with illnesses caused by the violence – all as she herself is pregnant. With each story, the ground shifts and our understanding of what we see on the evening news is altered and complicated in turn.

The Experience: The title comes from a Shia maxim: God created sexual desire in 10 parts; he gave nine parts to women and one to men. A riveting, unsettling, politically charged play that will leave you filled with awe – and with profound questions of how we help and harm our fellow man.

The Buzz: “One of the five best plays of 2003.” London Independent
“A Triumph. Thrilling. An example of how art can remake the world.” The New Yorker
“Powerful. Impassioned. Vivid. Memorable.” New York Times
“Profoundly moving.” Entertainment Weekly

The Fine Print: Adult subject matter.

Wrong side of the bed

So I totally woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Today was my day off the from the gym, and I was hoping to sleep in a bit...I've been so tired since I came home and I haven't been able to catch up on my rest at all. It's been a busy week with work so far, and I have been exhausted.

So anyway, my plan was to sleep in until 9AM and sit in my PJs and work all day. Well I was unfortunately awaked at 8ish by a cellphone caller...and wasn't able to fall back asleep so I got up and started working...The morning didn't go any better after that...but I think my luck for the day is turning. (Cross your fingers...because I do still have a dentist appt in an hour that could potentially make my day go bad again ;-)

Anyway, I received a bit of good news...which I may be a little overly excited for:

S: did you know that i have friday off ?
S: ;-)
B: You DO?!?!
S: :-)
B: FOR WHTA?!?!
S: yuppers
B: YEAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
B: Are you gonna HANG Out with me ALLLLLLLLLLLLL day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
B: I'm so excited! WE can go to LUNCH!!!!!
S: yeah
S: yup
S: and do stuff around the house
B: Well...you can do stuff around the house...I will have to work :-(:-(

SOOOOOOOO Friday is definitely going to be GREAT! I'm gonna have someone making noise in the house around me!! Someone to talk to!!! Someone to eat lunch with!! And it's not just someone!! It's SEYMEN! YEAAAYYYY!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SEYMEN!

Yesterday was Seymen's 27th birthday! Since I was traveling home from SJ Saturday, and my mom and Bill were traveling from Toronto on Sunday, we just had a small family party for Seymen. Seymen's birthday dinner consisted of:

Steak (on the grill)
Scalloped Potatoes
Homemade Ceaser Salad
Green Beans w/ Garlic and Soy
Grilled peppers
3 Chocolate Moose Cake

I was so excited that we had an occasion to light the candles on the kitchen table too! :-)
