Source of Depression
OK, so I apologize for my previous entry. I was really sad and depressed, and probably not all due to the events of the weekend and my day at work on Tuesday. I think that I've figured out why I'm sad. I had to cancel taking course 2 for Cake decorating this month because of a business trip to LA next week, and my trip to Japan the week after that. On wednesday night I was telling Seymen how weird it felt not to be baking a cake.
I called my mom to discuss my depression over not making a cake this week for class. She told me about a dinner party our friend Corkey is having on the 15th, which she wanted to request that I make a cake for. She is also interested in me working with her and her new company to make cakes for them! So I took on the task of making the cake this weekend and freezing it all decorated in my cake caddie so my mom can take the cake to the party on the 15th (I will be returning from LA on that day, so there won't be enough time to bake it and decorate it on Friday.)
Well tonight I went to my Dad's house for dinner, where my step-brother's girlfriend was over. We had a great time drinking wiine, and just talking. Well as it turns out, next tuesday is her neice's first birthday! So, I offered to make a cake for the birthday!! I'm so excited. I am going to make a Princess Castle Cake! It's a two tiered cake with little spires. I'm going to improvse based on my teacher's information, and make a cute little blue moat with water around it and a drawbridge! How sweet is that!?!?! And it's going to have little flags flying from the 5 spires!
Anyway, stay tuned for the cakes :-) I'm so excited and so happy again. Work and people can't even ruin my excitiment. And the best part is that Mary is going to buy my supplies, which I get to keep...so any new baking tins ;-) are MINE!!! Yeayyyyyy!!! I love cake decorating!!
So, I just have give a special shout out to my family. Because no one supports me like they do (other than Maki and Seymen, who are pretty much included in my family.) I was telling my mom and sister about course 3 which I'm signed up for in October. Our last cake of that class is a two tiered wedding cake made with fondant. My sister came up with the great idea of having a Black Tie affair to eat the wedding cake! We're all (as a family and some friends of the family) going to dress up really nice and go out to dinner, and then come home and drink Champagine and eat my wedding cake :-) That's true family support ya know? They totally just roll with all my crazy ideas...
And even my dad is excited for my cakes. Georgia keeps looking at them and advocating me to everyone she can see. She even tried to negotiate a price from Mary for my cake! ;-) And my dad wants me to bring the cake over because he wants to see it. This is huge. What a support system I have :-) Thank you to my entire family for your support, and only a few comments about how this is turning into another verison of scrapbooking....which for the record, even though I have so many supplies, I still do it, and make a lovely scrapbook yearly for Seymen's family :-)
