Italy

My mom and I decided that we're going to go to Italy together at the end of June, beginning of July!!! I'm sooo excited!! I've been waiting for two days now for some free time to look up discount packages...so far no luck...maybe tonight? Anyway, I can't wait. We want to go all over Italy in 10 days taking the train. I need a good package like the Ireland one Gina and I used. (no schedule, no hotel reservations ahead of time) Anyone have any suggestions? OK...off to the gym.

Happy Things

The TOP 10 things I look forward to in my day:
1. The shower after working out.
2. The first sip of my coke zero in the morning.
3. Shiki for lunch (if possible).
4. Evening chats with Chad (even if they are only 2 mins long)
5. Sandwhiches made by Seymen for dinner.
6. Sitting in dead silence with Seymen in the apartment...working.
7. Sending my last topic/handoff to India.
8. Pressing the shutdown button on my computer.
9. That first moment when my body hits the bed and it can finally relax.
10. Laying in bed watching Law and Order with Seymen and falling asleep in the middle.

Procrastanation

This is me procrastinating...I sat down to work at maybe 2:00PM today. I did 1 item on my to do list, and then went in Seymen's room to make him feel sorry for me, and to see if I had a fever. (I suddenly felt sick). Anyway, he checked my forehead, said I was a little warm and went back to his computer. I told him I was just going to close my eyes for 20 minutes, and please wake me up! Well at 5:00 I woke up. Seymen was gone (he went out to CompUSA) and I missed out on my afternoon of working...

So I came back to my room and sat in (what used to be my COMFORTABLE) my now uncomfortable desk and chair set up, to start working...Well I opened the XML to start reviewing...and then I went to my Yahoo IM and changed my Avatar's outfit and background...Then I went to my blog and read some comments. At that point Chad IMed me (he was being a work-a-holic too) so we chatted for a few...and just now I checked to make sure Desperate Housewives is not a repeat...and then I took the Desperate Housewives Test, to see which one I am...Turns out I am Susan...hmmm...I don't know if that is a good thing ;-)

Anyway, I think I'm just about ready to start working again...after I put clean sheets back on my bed...and fold all the laundry...

Lotus Notes and 6PM and 10PM

So, I just have to post something else because, I am literally at a standstill in completing my work for the night...Why is it that Lotus Notes takes one hundred, thousand, million years to do anything at 6PM or 10PM? Those are seriously the worst times for if I ever try to do anything...especially close it...and if I'm leaving at 6PM, I'm probably late for some personal engagement...and if I'm working at 10, I'm just trying to get my shit done as quick as possible so I can go to sleep and enjoy what few limited hours of blissful sleep I can get...but no. I have to extend my life by 15 minutes at both 6PM and 10PM to wait for freaking lotus to decide to work...I wish we used outlook. What a concept. Microsoft does it better...I sware...

The Escape of Stan

So, Seymen and I were outside tonight and noticed a cat hanging around the apartment building. He looked a little on the plump side, so we assumed he couldn't be a stray. Seymen thought maybe it was our neighbors cat that got out or something...So, being the good samartian that he is, he rang the doorbell to inform them about the cat. Well, the first doorbell wasn't the right apartment...it was the upstairs one...but on the 2nd try, our neighbor came out and realized it was poor Stan. As soon as Stan heard her voice, he sprinted into her apartment. (I think he was scared!! Poor little guy!)

I really just love the name Stan for a cat. Shelly's cat is named Stanley. I love it :-) It reminds me of Stan from the golden girls. Anyway, meeting this Stan got my thinking about Stanley, Shelly, and Jamie :-)

Feeling Overwhelmed

I'm starting to panic right now. I'm feeling a bit overwhelemed. I am really far behind on content reviews for my two newest courses...about 5 topics behind...and I am about 2 topics behind on my other course...with 4 topics still needing to be storyboarded by the end of this week...so I can TRY to post early for my SME who is going to be busy on the scheduled date...while spending the morning answering clarification questions from the IDs in India, and handing out topics to IDs in Rochester. And the worse part is, I just can't work any more than I already am. I wish I were slacking off and working only 40 hours a week, so an extra couple of hours work wouldn't feel so difficult...

I don't even have time to go to the gym. I've started going at 7AM, working out until 7:45, showering and going right to work. My nights are filled sitting at my desk at home, working all night until my eyes bleed. My eyes are so sore that I can't even watch my .5 episode of Law and Order. Last night I had to lay in bed with my eyes closed, just listening to it because I hurt so much. Good thing it was a repeat! But the BAD news is...We just got Disc 1 of Season 2 in the mail...There are 8 episodes on 1 DISC!!!! WAHOOO!! Unfortunately, I won't have time to watch them :-((( I hate my life! I just wannna lay in bed and watch Law and Order :-) But I'm not complaining...because with my luck they'd take me off these courses and put me back on custom work...and I DEFINITELYYYY don't want that... :-)

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone! Hope you had a nice one! Seymen and I had a nice "relaxing" weekend. Friday night we went over to Kris and Dan's place for a BBQ and Mario Party 6. Kris and I were in competition to see who could lose the WORST, but she ended up winning that one :-) Yeay! Go Peaches!!

Anyway, Saturday we both got up really early in the morning for breakfast (yea, that was like 9:30...that's REALLY early for us!)...Anyway, we went to the Parkside diner with my mom and bill, and uncle jim and aunt margy. It was nice to see them as they zoomed through town for passover. When we came home, we both had all good intentions of working for the rest of the day until dinner. Well...that didn't work out so well for either of us. I laid down on my bed, trying to be all dramatic to Seymen about how tired I was and ended up falling asleep until 4PM! Yeah, go Beth. I woke up, with bead indents in my cheeck from the bedspread, to Seymen rooting around in my room trying to find things to sell on EBay :-) LOL...You'd think, what would Beth have in her room to sell on Ebay?? Welll, somehow my night stand was turned into the almighty cable holder. We have all KINDS of cables in there...from Cat5 to TV cables and power cords...If you need one...come see me ;-)

Anyway, needless to say, this weekend we fought the urge to sleep and tried to get some work done. We went to my mom's for Easter dinner which was delicious! (Turkey dinner! My favorite!) In the spirit of procrastination, we decided to stay later and build a handicapp ramp for Bayley. Seymen and I were scrounging around the garage and pool area and found just enough wood, dry wall and rug to create a great little handicapp ramp for Bayley!!!

OK. I gotta go to another meeting. Lunch is over :-(

Mini-heimers?

I think that I am suffering from Mini-heimers. I seriously can't remember anything. It's not like I'm not getting enough sleep lately, because I think I am...but my brain it just SHOT! Last night I met with my student for our english class. We were talking, and I came up with a good plan for out class on Saturday. I continued talking with her, and about 20 minutes later, she cautiously said: "Beth, I thought we were only having class once this week?"...I was like...Ohhh yeahhh! I completely forgot! We are not having class on Saturday...About 10 minutes after that, I was back to us having class on Saturday. I told her to hit me the next time I said anything about class on Saturday ;-)

So then, after class I drove over to AnG's to pick her up so we could drive to Jena's new place for the LOST party. Of course I forgot to bring my own drinks, so we had to stop and Wegmans on the way. I think I drove around the Wegman's parking lot for 10 minutes, with AnG sitting in the seat next to me going...Um Beth? I think that was a spot...Oh wait, there's another spot...Yeah...I am definitely slow on the uptake. (OK, well maybe it wasn't 10 minutes, but sometimes I have to exaggerate to get the point across, ya know?)

OK...so now I am in a little bit of a jam...because I just had one invite for dinner tomorrow night with some college friends...which I accepted (without asking Seymen, and without remembering my own schedule)...and then afterwards I realized that I was supposed to try to see my friend from High School on Friday after work. Ohhh boy. I think that maybe I will just have to leave work early (maybe at 3?) and go see my friend. I shouldn't be working on Good Friday anyway!! (Me being the good "Chri-easter" that I am! (Chri-easter = church go-er on Christmas and Easter only ;-) On top of that, Sey-dogg has the day off of work, so now I'm totally jelouse. ;-)

Bad Reputation??

Do you think that I have a bad reputation? Case in point, conversation with an ID today:

Beth: I have something to tell you.
ID: OK...Shoot
Beth: Reviewing your storyboards is like a breath of fresh air.
ID: PHEWWWW! I thought you were going to tell me that I was doing them all wrong.

Turkish Dinner

Well my Turkish dinner went off without a hitch tonight!! :-) Clare (from work) and Joanne came over for a "home-cooked" Turkish meal because they are thinking about going to Istanbul at somepoint in their lives...Of course as soon as I heard Clare mention that I've been dropping her little hints and forcing her to look at my pictures, eat the food, listen to all the stories...etc...everything Turkish. :-)

Anyway, today finally came!! We started the morning early (for us) and got up and at 'em by 10AM. Our new cleaning lady (yeah did you know we have a cleaning lady?? Yeah, it's still strange to me too ;-) came for the first time today...So, Seymen and I decided to go out to breakfast and hung around (outside of the apartment) until 1ish. From there, we went to Opening Day for the Red Wings Game! It was really nice weather, except that it was freezing cold...but the sun was shining and when the wind wasn't blowing, it was pleasent. We had these really nice seats right behind the red wing's dug out. This cute little boy (maybe 4 or 5 years old) was sitting in front of us with his father. It was just the two of them and I think his dad was really excited to be at the baseball game with his son. His son, on the other hand...was REALLY excited to eat all the food at the baseball game :-) He sat there munch on the cotton candy, occasionally yelling out "Home Run! Go Red wings". Well as soon as he finished his candy, he sat down in his seat...then got up...stepped on some peanut shells, and then started chanting "Candy Apple! Candy Apple!" It was so cute. They got up and then a few minutes later returned with a Candy apple. At one point maybe 50 licks into the Candy Apple, peanuts started to sound appealing to him :-) But his dad held his ground...Poor kid. I think he might be either really hyper tonight or really sick from all the food ;-)

So, we stayed until the 4th inning, but we were all too cold and I needed to go still go grocery shopping for dinner tonight, and cook...So we headed out. While I went to Wegmans, Seymen did one last check out of Chase Pitkins. It's offically closing. There's nothing left there except a handful of items, most under $20. The shelves are empty and all the employees just look sad and defeated :-((( I couldn't stand staying in there for very long. I almost got teary over the situation because it looked so depressing and EMPTY...and that must say ALOTTT because although I do enjoy my drill, I'm not one to go hang out in Chase Pitkins/Home Depot/Lowes on my free time!

Anyway, for dinner I made Mercemeck corba (Lentil Soup)...and SUPRISINGLY!!! I have finally...well not "MASTERED" per say, the recipe sent by Seymen's Mom...but I have successfully accomplished making an ediable immitation of Mercemeck corba. I have also found a solution for the hand blender and it splattering soup all over me and the kitchen. I had a rough moment in the beginning, when I splattered boiling hot soup on my forehead. Yeah...it was a sight to see...Thankfully I had everything re-cleaned by the time Clare and Joanne arrived...AND lucky before Seymen got back from the gym...just so he couldn't make fun of me, or the red spot on my forehead ;-)

So we had the soup, Stuffed Green Peppers, Dolmas, and Clare and Joanne brought homemade apple pie for dessert. It was delicious (the pie) :-) Seymen and I lucked out and were able to keep the left over pie ;-) hehehe :-) It was really a great night. We had some really interesting conversation and a few good laughs...especially when Seymen did a Demonstration of the "Tushy Cleaner" in his bathroom :-) I'm sure that this will be a memorable night for Clare and Joanne...whether they want it to be or not ;-)

Anyway, now we are both really tired. Seymen is sitting on the couch watching the discovery channel...something about molecules bonding together...blah...blah blah...I was going to fall asleep sitting up watching that...so here I am :-) Anyway...I'm thinking that my bed looks really really cozy right about now...so I'm gonna hit the sack. Nighty nightt :-)

Poor Little Worker Slave Story

Imagine this scenario:

Poor little worker slave is driving back from lunch. Said slave has to go to the bathroom SOOOO bad. It hits said slave 2 minutes out of parking lot from lunch. Slave hits every freaking red light possible on the way back to slave headquaters. Slave believes that he/she/it won't make it to slave parking area (all the way in back) so slave parks in closest spot out front of slave headquarters.

Poor little worker slave runs inside to closest bathroom, and then runs back out to move poor slave's car. On the way out, the "WANNA BE MASTER" of slaves yells at poor little worker slave for parking out front.

Poor little worker slave explains the situation, that poor little worker slave's bladder wouldn't hold it...and apologizes and quickly moves poor little worker slave back to worker slave parking area, after of course, a lecture from "WANNA BE MASTER" of slaves: "Only EXECUTIVE MASTERS can park up front"...

Poor little worker slave, slaves away all night long...sleeps and comes back to slave headquarters in the morning. Poor little worker slave is at said slave's desk, working her/his/its little butt off (and my I remind you...FOR the "EXECUTIVE MASTERS!!!!"...so the "EXECUTIVE MASTERS" can drive their pretty little cars, and dress in their pretty little suits, and live their lovely family life with a REGULAR 9-5 existance!!!)...Poor little worker slave gets an IM from another poor little worker slave in the 2nd Slave headquarters...Poor little worker slave 2, tells original poor little worker slave about an e-mail sent to the 2nd Slave headquarters...reminding all poor little worker slaves to park in the designated slave parking spots.

Original poor little worker slave is now feeling really mad and wants to plan a revolt...and wants to punch "WANNA BE MASTER" in the face. I wonder if they have an underground railroad for the poor little worker slaves...

Crazy Wedding Weekend!

Well! We made it back to Rochester in 1 piece after the crazy wedding weekend! :-) It was really a great time. Seymen and I were supposed to leave around 3 or 4PM on friday. We both got out of work early so we could pack, run our last minute errands and then head out...But as it turned out, we decided to wait for Kris and Dan...so we ended up not leaving until 8:40PM. We took two cars, so I rode up with Kris while Seymen and Dan rode together in Seymen's car. We finally arrived in Saratoga at like 11:30 or 12ish. Everyone else had arrived and already made their way down to the bars. Kris and I had decided that we were going to stay for 15-30 minutes...tops...We were both really tired and just wanted to rest up for the wedding the next day.

Well...as it turned out...we stayed 15-30 minutes...and then some! We didn't get back to the hotel until 5:30 AM!!! OMG!!! It was crazy fun! Everyone was sooooooooooo happy to be together again. Everyone was happy drunk too! (There was NOOOO drama!!) and we were all just talking, and laughing, and hugging, and drinking...and drinking ;-) I almost died. I had 5 apple-tinis, 1 lemon drop shot, and 1.5 glasses of champagne. The bars in saratoga are open until 4AM!!! So we closed that bar down and headed to a restuarant (where I passed out on the steps...but was revived with french fries!). (See the pictures...you can live vicariously through them to get the full effect of the craziness).

Saturday was a rough morning. Scott and Adam bunked in the room with Seymen and I. They slept together on a loveseat pullout couch. It was pretty scarey waking up to see Scott and Adam spooning ;-) hehehehe. JK JK...Anyway, Kris and I dragged ourselves out of bed and planned a surprise brunch for Seymen at 1:00PM. We went to this pretty fancy restuarant (Wheatfields) and celebrated Seymen's birthday with all of his friends!!! :-) We even found the cutest candles --little trucks and backhoes! After lunch we all went back to our rooms for naps before the wedding...

After a late start, we finally got the entire group dressed and to the Wedding location. Thank goodness Nate planned ahead for our entire group and signed us all up for the free limo service. The wedding was really beautiful! Nate and Liz look awesome and so happy. It was a really cute location and of course we were surrounded by our college friends, so what could be better? :-) I didn't last too long that night. Seymen was considering going out to the bars after the wedding, but we headed back a little earlier (with Nick and Janice...they were still jetlagged from their flight from Hong Kong, and they needed to leave at 8:30AM the next day)...I went to bed, and Seymen sat up watching TV...Unfortunately, he didn't end up going anywhere. I woke up at 5AM to find him sitting straight up on the bed sleeping with his glasses on, the lights on and the TV on :-)

By Sunday, the crazyness of the weekend was waring on me. We woke up really really late, and thanks to the time change didn't check out of the room until 2PM! Our friends were kind enough to wait for us, and we all went out for food. Afterwards, we headed to the Saratoga Antique Car Museum. (WAHOOO! *sarcastic wahooo*) But it actually turned out to be one of the coolest musuems I've been to in a while! They had a Model-T car there!!! The Tin Lizzy!! And of course a number of Jags, Aston Martins, Mustangs...etc. Seymen and all the guys (and surprisingly Kris) were all in awe and in love with the cars :-) It was really cool though...I saw the car that worked on land and water. Supposedly, that car is own by a Whitney.

After that, we headed back to the downtown main street (broadway)...and went shopping, drank some coffee, and finally headed back to the hotel where our friends had a suite for the night. We hung out...I watched TV and stuffed my face with junk food, while Seymen watched a game of beer pong. We ended up not leaving until 9:20!!! So we didn't arrive back in Rochester until WAYYYYYYY late! Today I was so tired!!! But it was an excellent weekend...that led to a surprisingly really good day at work! :-)
