Dress was a bust
Well, after all that hard work, the lovely pink dress was a bust. We finally got the zipper to look nice enough, but it just wasn't falling right...so we gave up at 10:30. Thanks to my mom it looks pretty good, but not quite good enough to wear outside. ;-) Anyway, it ended up working out because I found another pink dress in my closet that I bought 2 summers ago (in case I went to Turkey to meet Seymen's parents...unfortunately, I went in January so I wasn't able to use it).
I'm definitly depressed about the dress. If I had only had a little more time, I probably could have fixed it...but my damn day job got in the way...yet again...Ohhh the bitterness never ends.
Anyway, I made myself feel better because tomorrow it's supposed to be 76 degrees!!! and I bought these great sassy red capri-office pants from Limited a few weeks ago. I also got a cute tank top and black heels with bows on them...so I am going to wear that outfit with pride tomorrow :-)
Let's see...what else...I missed LOST last night because Chris came over and we spent all night making a wedding present for Nate and Liz (did you notice a theme here? I can't ever take the easy way out. I have to always make things myself and be creative...but my creative juices are all soaked up during work...so I'm left with a mush mind and spend hours thinking :-) But we are very proud of our work. I will post the pictures of the present after the wedding :-). Chris also brought her two daughters (ages 2 and 6 weeks) so I spent all night taking care of the 6 week-year old :-) I loved it. She was so sweet. I was holding her and she fell asleep with her face smothered in my shoulder. Seymen even had a chance to hold her, although only for a few minutes :-) he was really scared :-))) hehehe...
We are having a big day next monday...Seymen decided he wanted to get us a house cleaner. I'm a bit anti the idea...but if that's what he wants, it's his birthday so I have to agree :-) My mom told me I shouldn't be offended...it's not that I can't clean...but I don't have to do everything and I might enjoy it...so I'm giving it a shot. It just so happens that her first day coiencidentially falls on the same day that I'm having a little dinner party with one of the girls from work. So I'm happy about that. I will have enough to worry about with cooking that I will be glad to not worry about the dust on the molding in the bedroom behing the TV...hehehe. Anyway, my co-worker and her partner are going to Turkey, so they are coming over for a home cooked Turkish meal and pictures...made by a Korean-born American ;-) hehehehe...but Seymen's mom equipped me with some of her recipies so hopefully THAT will be successful. (Can you tell I'm depressed that I'm a failure at sewing and at my job?)
Anyway, I better hit the sack. It was another really tough day today. I made it through, crying only 3 times. The tears were only barely witnessed by one person so that was a major accomplishment. Maybe tomorrow things will look better. I'm taking a half day so we can leave early, and by god I'm going to leave at 12PM. Screw work. They can do it themselves. :-) hehehe...yeah right...I wish I could have that attitude.

Bacholorette Party
Well I made it successfully through my first bacholorette party! I went to Liz's party on Friday night. (She and Nate are getting married next weekend!) Anyway, we started our night with dinner at Tappas. Well, to be accurate, I started my night with a happy hour with the Cisco team after work at Zebbs. 2 glasses of wine later, I made my way to Shiki for a quick "snack" with Seymen. I left when Maki arrived to keep him company and then headed to Tappas...
Sooo...we had a really nice dinner. I met three of Liz's other friends, and our friend Chris showed up as well. Chris and I spent the evening together trying to drink it up and let loose :-) We really had a great time. After Tappas, we headed to the old toad where we ran into some really strange old guy...The bar tender felt bad for us being "bothered" by the mean guy who stole her cookies, so she bought a round of shots. Once we finished at the toad, we moved over to SOHO. It was really crowded by the time we got there. I went to the bar to buy apple-tini's for Chris and I. When I was waiting for my drink, so guy across the bar tried to buy me a drink...(which I refused...but that was the first time in my LIFE that some stranger ever tried to buy me a drink!) We met some interesting characters at SOHO. Maybe the fact that Liz's bride-to-be hat gave it away that we were having a bacholorette party...or the "Bacholorette cards" that we kept making her choose and do!!!! Either way, we found some pretty crazy people. I didn't last much longer after that. I had had 5 glasses of wine and 1 apple-tini by 1AM...I almost threw up on the floor of SOHO, so I decided it was time to turn in.. :-) Thank goodness, Seymen thought ahead and got a ride downtown with friends earlier in the night. He and his friends were at Pita pit when I left...so I was able to get my car home safely :-)
So, this morning we slept in and then headed to Irondequoit so I could buy some Red Lentils (Mercimek) to make Mecimek Corba (Lentil Soup)...From there we headed straight to GEVA so we could usher for Inherit the Wind. The play was AWESOME! I loved it!! I wasn't sure if Seymen was really into going and ushering, but he really really loved the play. He even got to man the ice cream booth during intermission, which made him really happy too :-) I'm really glad that he enjoyed the play so much and now I can convince him to do it again for sure ;-)
So...Maki and I went out for Beth and Maki night tonight. We got our nails done, and then went to dinner. (We were supposed to go to David's Bridal to pick out a wedding dress for her but it was closed)...So now I'm home. I should be working...I have 8 topics to review and 2 other custom courses to review all by Sunday night...but I am totally unmotivated. I am really feeling like just going to bed and working tomorrow...but I will be in trouble tomorrow night and just stressed and even angrier...so I guess I should suck it up and work now. Yeayy my life sucks... :-)

Inherit the Wind
My fellow tutor Kathy works at GeVa Theater as a side job. This weekend I have signed up to be an usher for the show. Kathy just e-mailed me today to tell me what play they are doing...It's Inherit the Wind! I LOVED that book in high school! I can't wait to see it! I read the book (actually it was the play) in 1 night. I remember sitting in my bedroom at my dad's townhouse just entranced by the book. :-) And you know me...Miss Procrastinater...I was so far ahead on my homework schedule thanks to that book!!! :-) Yippppeee!! I'm trying to convince Seymen to come usher with me :-) We'll see!

A New Beth Plan
Well I've come up with a new "Beth Plan" (That's what my family calls them...because I tend to come up with a new "Beth Plan" every other week or month ;-) But anyway...I was searching around the Internet the other night (when surprisingly I didn't have to work all night!!) for something to get me excited about life...Something to look forward to so the daily depression that usually surrounds me on work week days, doesn't seem so bad...
WELLL!!!! I FOUND IT!!!! It's the BESTTTTTTTTTTT idea I've had a in a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGG time!! Yup! (Your dying to know it aren't you?!?!?!) OK...so I was trying to think of something for my shutdown week in July where we have a week of Mandatory vacation during 4th of July...and I ran across a program called: "Turkish for Foreigners". Basically, it's a summer intensive Turkish class program for foreigners interested in learning TUrkish on their holiday breaks. They have a 2 week intensive course that coincedentially coiencides with my shut down week. I'd only have to take a week off of work in addition to shut down!!! It's GREATTTTTTTTT!!! It's 3 hours of intensive class and the rest of the day you do touristy things and see Istanbul. The price includes a 13 night accomadation at a local hotel! It's PERFECT!!! Then Seymen could go home and see his family while I learn Turkish and see more of Istanbul (if he so chooses to join me).
I'm really excited!! I really want to do it. Seymen and I are going to "discuss" it when he comes back from CA tomorrow (so probably Friday)...I have until then to stew over this idea...I'm really really excited. I really want to do this...more than anything else in the whole wide world....(as of this week) hehehe.

Men and their Shoes!
And they say that women have a problem with the number of shoes they own...meanwhile, Seymen had his 4 pairs of brown dress shoes!

Wow...the Internet is Amazing
I was just doing a little research on Turkish classes and ran across a website for MSN Groups of: "English Girlfriends of Turkish Men". How about that?!?! I guess it's a common enough thing that they have a website for it! Also, I guess there must be alot of Turks in England, or British in Turkey :-)

My Favorite Fairy Tale
The Shortest Fairy Tale
Once upon a time, a girl asked a guy "Will you marry me?" The guy
said, "No." And the girl lived happily ever after and went shopping,
dancing, cruising, drank martinis, always had a clean house, and never had to cook.
The end.

Happy Day!
Hi! I'm having a really good, happy day today :0) I don't know why, maybe the weather being so nice, but I'm just really happy. I don't know that anything really changed from yesterday or the day before, but so far, nothing has broken my good mood. Maybe because it's Friday I am happy...But in an effort to balance out my regular complaining posts, I thought I'd share my happy state of being :-) HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!!

Every Day is a Challenge
Every morning when I wake up, I'm refreshed and ready to tackle the day head on. I feel like everything is attainable and I can motivate myself enough to actually get out of bed and go to work...then I get there...and one thing after another happens and by the end of the day, I'm beat. I'm completely drained and all I have left is a racing heart and shaky hands. I work to find a good cut off point, enough to allow me to go home and eat dinner and jump back into work from my bedroom until my eyes are so tired that they just slide shut...just to start another day, somehow convinced that this next day is going to be better than the last.

Back from NYC
Hi! We made it back in one piece!! :-) We had a bit of a late start on Friday afternoon. I had trouble leaving work...but when I finally did, Seymen picked me up and we went to go see an apartment/condo/townhouse, that Seymen had seen earlier in the day with the realtor. He was convinced that it was the perfect place so we needed to postpone our departure for an hour so I could see the place too :-) It was really cute, and I randomly called Chad to come look at it with us since it was in his neighborhood. Seymen put in an offer for the apartment/condo/townhouse this afternoon, after a very positive reaction from my dad (we dragged him there on our lunch break too!)
Anyway...after a bit of a late start, we hit traffic near Syracuse. Then I got all confused because of driving to Boston so often, that instead of taking the Thurway to 87, we continued on 90 until we hit the Mass Pike! I thought I was going to have to jump out of the car, due to fact that Seymen was gonna kill me for not paying attention ;-) BUTTTTT it ended up to be OK. We were only 1 exit past the Taconic Parkway, so we just "pretended" that we "intended" to take the Taconic to Conn. to save money ;-) We made it there in 6.5 hours just in time to catch to train to Grand Central.
Anyway, we had a great time in the City. We met up with Seymen and his Aunt and Cousin Saturday afternoon and spent the evening with him having drinks and then dinner. It was awesome to meet more of Seymen's family. We had a great time, and it was awesome to learn more about Seymen's parents, uncle, and grandparents from the stories that his aunt and cousin shared. :-) (PICTURES FROM NYC)

Sunday we headed back to Conn. to get the car and met my step-sister Leslie for a late lunch. We then headed out and made it home (surprise surprise) with no hitches, no getting lost, and in 5.5 hours :-)

Unplanned Trip to NYC!!
So!!! Seymen and I are heading out on an unplanned trip to NYC!! His aunt that he hasn't seen in years is in the city for business, and his cousin recently moved to the City from out west. He made a last minute decision that we should go visit them! YEAYYYY!!! I get to meet another few family memebers of Seymen!!! I'm so excited!!! We decided to drive instead of fly because it was so expensive and now Thaun and Chau may hitch a ride to and from the City with us :-) Yipppeee!!! It's gonna be greaaatttt! And now...for the best part of all...We are going to stay at the Waldof-Astoria Hotel!!! WAHOOOOOOOOO!! I've never been there...or stayed there! My sister had dinner there once with my dad when he was staying there...so I'm really excited to go there and see it :-)
Today was a sad day for me though...(which makes the NYC trip all the better)...I went to the dentist to have cavities filled and that uncovered the fact that I need to have a root canal. I was so upset that I started to cry in the dentist chair. I couldn't get myself under control. I was totally freaked out to go in the first place because of course whenever anyone gets any dental work done, all the stories start coming out of the woodwork. You always hear the horror stories...So I started panicing in the chair and sobbing uncontrollably. My dentist tried to calm me down, talk to me, tell me it was going to be OK, and it won't hurt that much...I'll have a ton of novacine so I won't feel a thing. She told me she would give me a prescription for some anti-anxiety medicine so I'm not as scared...
I managed to hiccup and sob out that Seymen had one done by her and was telling me how much it hurt...
she was like: "Who? Did you say Daemon?"
I said: "No...Th-eymen (with my numb tounge)...he'th the one you alway-th have to give a ton of novican too when he come-th"...
and she goes..."Ohhh Daemon! Ohh don't listen to Daemon. He is sooooo anxious. He panics at the sight of the dentist office. He has a very low tolerance for dental work...don't compare yourself to him. He never would have made it through the fillings you just did."
So, I sat up, tried to calm myself down and stop crying...Then the dentist started telling the hygentist that "Daemon is the nicest guy..." and that she wanted to hook him up with the front desk receptionist!
So of course I had to break in there: "You cant do that! He-th my boyfriend. Plea-th don't hook him up with your recepthionith!".
At that point she said..."Ohhh well in that case, I won't hook him up with her :-)...He's a really nice guy! But don't take advice from him on dental work...software yes...dental work NO :-)
So afterwards, I headed over to Fuji for some sympathy from Seymen. It turned out that he and Thaun we're outside so when I saw him I just started crying all over again...and then again when I saw Johnny...who told me it wasn't as bad as having my arm taken off :-) Anyway...I feel better now...I got my anti-biotics and I'm focusing on our NYC trip to make myself feel better :-)
