Happy Thanksgiving

Hi!! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday!! We had a really nice vacation. Wednesday night after work, Chrissy and Maki came over for a nice dinner with Seymen and I. Afterwards, AnG, Cathy, and Jake showed up for a evening of hanging out...drinking wine. We were supposed to bake the apple pie and scalloped potatoes for Thursday's dinner...but we got all caught up talking so we didn't bake...well until later. Jake tried to bribe me to stay awake by offering to help cook the apple pie. So at 1AM, Jake and I started baking. We finished by 2:15AM and headed to bed.

Thanksgiving was a nice, but FREEZING cold day. Maki came to dinner this year, which we were all happy for!! And we spent the day/evening cooking, talking, and eating...We were supposed to start the Family Whiz-bang Tournament...but I pooped out and fell asleep before the games began. I was so tired, I slept through all the card playing!!

The rest of the weekend was spent dodging the crazy shopping crowds. Seymen and I stopped by a "sold out" best buy on Black Friday. Saturday, Seymen, Nate, Chrissy and I completed an all day shopping trip at Eastview. We congratulated ourselves on a trip well shopped, with dinner at Shiki. After which, Seymen and I watched Herbie Fully Loaded (SOOOOOOOO GOOOD!! I highly recommend it! It was so cute! I love Herbie! Especially when he get's mad. His cute little car face is soooo adorable!)

Sunday, I cleaned...and then made more of a mess :-) Maki and Josephine came over and baked cookies (to be eaten for dessert tonight--Monday night when I had a big dinner planned for Josephine)...Anyway, I realized they are both star cookie icers! Very creative!! But with nothing to show forth because we seem to have eaten allllll the cookies. After they left, I was on over-drive, and made the Lasagna, caught up on work that I was planning to do over the break, and read some of my book. Needless to say, I didn't get to sleep until 2AM.

Tonight after work, was my official night to have Josephine over for dinner. My mom and Bill came, and Maki. Seymen showed up after the gym. It was a fun night. We had some interesting conversations :-) Maki of course kept us all laughing :-) Hopefully Joesphine isn't scared of me now that she's met my family :-) hehehe...If anything, she's probably sick of the Turkish tea I keep serving! HEHEHEHE! Whenever ANYONE comes over now, I bought extra tea cups, so I FORCE everyone to drink Turkish tea from the tea cups. Poor Maki has drank sooooo much. The first night I had the tea cups, she and I both drank like 6 cups of tea each! hehehehe

Anyway, I should go help Seymen. He's doing all my dinner dishes. But while I do that...check out pics from the Thanksgiving Vacation Weekend.

One more thing

Oh one more thing...because I'm sure you are all concerned about how my move went...I came in the morning and started moving my stuff over to my new cube. Everything went smoothly...except for the part when I missed my 9AM meeting because I forgot with the excitement of the move. When I remembered, I drove over to the meeting and they were JUST leaving when I arrived. Ohh well...My new cube is not as bad as I imagined. I saw Chad 3 times, and he came over for our evening chat, which comforted me. But anyway, it's a nice sized cube. A bit more private than my last one which is nice, and I have a longer wall...so more space to hang stuff from. So, I'm fairly happy. Although I do miss my old row, and my old desk is so sad and lonely lookin' now...and kind of dirty actually. I hate to admit it...but I think I'm a slob...or a dust bunny magnet ;-)

First Snow

We have an exchange employee in town for the next few weeks. She's from our counterpart in India! Josephine is a fellow CDM, and the cutest thing ever. She's very very friendly!!! and VERY excited because today she saw snow for the first time in her life!!! It was so exciting :-) Jess and I took her to lunch to Bill Grays (to experience the TRUE AMERICAN CHEESEBURGER!!!) When we were leaving the restuarant, the first few snow flakes started to fall! Josephine was so excited that she sqealed :-) I heard her telling my fellow CDMs about it this evening as everyone was packing up and heading home :-)

Anyway, by the time I left work it hadn't started snowing full force. I went to Michael's to babysit him for the evening. We had a GREAT time. It's been a few years since I've babysat him at his house and played with all his toys! Usually I take him around to do fun stuff or babysit him at my mom's or my apartment. But tonight with the cold weather, we stayed in and watched Aladdin (the original) until dinner and then played a TON of games. We played: "Don't break the Ice" "Ants in my Pants" "Clue Jr." "Ka-plunk" and "Clifford BINGO". It was totally fun :-) I even tried to get a little learning into it for Michael since he's on "vacation". He didn't even notice. He thought I was just being silly...making us say words that started with the letter I called :-) hehehe I'm so sneaky :-)

Anyway, after game time...I realized that time got away from us...and we were late for Bathtime. So we rushed through that, and his mom made it home in time for storytime...BUT!!! Little did I know, it had started snowing a TON while we were playing! So when we looked outside it was ALLLLL white!! Crazy!!! :oP The drive home wasn't fun. I feel like I've lost some of my snow driving confidence since I didn't drive in ANY snow at all last year! I was the poor little sucker on the road going 45 MPH. The one that I always pass...but I decided to take it slow because I didn't feel like dying tonight :-)

I was going to do more work tonight but it's really late, and I'm really tired...so I think I'm going to bed and I'm going to wake up early tomorrow. Try to get to work by 7:00AM so I have some time at work where I won't be interrupted. I can't wait for tomorrow. Last day before the holiday!!! Chrissy is going to sleep over tomorrow night. I guess she and Seymen planned it at dinner tonight...the family dinner that I missed b/c I was babysitting. Ohh well...I"m off to bed. Nighty nIght!!

Cup Half Full!

Well, enough of the sadness...My cup is actually half full today :-) I just remembered that Washington D.C. is a GO!!! Yipppeee! Now I have to play travel agent and plan out the site-seeing tour that I would like to take Seymen on!! Hopefully there'll be enough time for it all. :-) Soooooooo exciteddddd!!! Gonna hopefully eat Turkish food in D.C. (I've already scoped out the restuaurants!!) Yeayyyyy!!!!

Goodbye Madison Ave!!!

I had a sad phone call this afternoon. I'm being moved from my current cube (WHICH I LOVE TO DEATH) to a cube on CDM Row...on Route 66. :-(( With no notice, they are moving me tomorrow :-(. I've broken the news to Bethany and Chad, and they are both sad, and promise to be my friend still...Hopefully the evening chats will continue. Anyway, I'm really sad. I love my cube off out of the way from everyone else.

Sad reactons to Beth moving:

Chad my Cube-mate: well, i will say one thing: i'm *very* sad you'll be moving. that straight sucks, yo.

5 Year Warranty

Thank god for the 5 year warrenty we bought for my DVD burner! I've been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out why my burner wasn't working since I moved home from Texas. Well...after some troubleshooting, I suprised the socks off of Seymen by producing my receipt and warrenty information for him so we could bring it back to Best Buy!! :-) Yeayyy! Go Beth!!! I am the queen of loosing everything that is important, and Seymen didn't even think to ask if I still had it because of my bed reputation...but low and behold!! I had just finished re-arranging my bedroom and found the warrenty information!! Wahooooooooo!! He was so happy with me that we went straight to best buy and exchanged my old one for a new...WORKING burner. :-))) Yeayyy!!

The weekend has been really nice. Family dinner at the Yacht Club on friday...Saturday Seymen worked some and I taught English. For dinner we went Christmas shopping (but ended up not buying any presents for anyone...but we both found new coats that we want to buy!! and played with the toys at the Sharper Image) and had a DELICIOUS dinner at Biaggios. Yummmyy...Today we ran errands. Ohhh yeah, and on Saturday I finally visited the new scrapbooking store!! Of course I bought a few items...One of which I'm VERY excited about. It's a big punch that makes little envelopes! It's soooooooooo cute. I have start up the scrapbooking hardcore now.

Anyway, I rearranged my room today. I made a corner desk with my bedside tables, so I can FINALLY use both of my computers sitting in my comfy chair...No more sitting on the floor :-) I am really enjoying the new set up. Seymen and I are currently spending quality time together...watching Law and order, and working on computers in the same room. :o) Ahhhh :-) I love special Beth and Seymen quality time. I'm so happy right now. I wish it weren't Sunday, and that we didn't have to go to work tomorrow AM. Ohh welll...It's T-day soon! Yummmm yummmm yummmmmmmmmmmy!

The NOT-SO-SMOOTH Beth

So, today we got to leave work @ 2:15PM to go have a team Bingo game with the entire ID and CDM team. It was a busy day and much to do to finish everything so I could participate. Well, luck was on my side, and everything was wrapped up in time, with even a 15 minute pre-Bingo Excitement time...where some fellow co-workers and I discussed the prizes, and started competitions. Well, we played. My competition was with Dave Pesce. The deal was the person who didn't win the grand prize (A nano-ipod donated by Emily and Cam for the hard work we've done on a specific project) then the loser got to stamp the winners face with our bingo stampers. It worked out perfectly because Dave was wearing a green shirt and I was wearing a blue scarf, so our stampers would have matched our clothes :-) Anyway, as it turned out...I was only 1 number away from winning, Dave 2...but we lost to Carlene.

So, we hung our heads, called a truce and headed outside to go home. I was hanging out, talking to Julie and Bethany...Bethany had just commented on how cute my wordrobe is and how she loves my outfits. At that point, her boyfriend drove up to pick her up and I started walking towards my car. Well, of course I was wearing my **** me shoes (bought in Texas @ TJ Max for a nice price of $20). I guess I got excited or something, but I slipped, twisted my ankle and fell flat on my face in the parking lot :-)

I was HOPING...no...PRAYYYYYYYING that it was only Bethany, Julie, and Jason that saw me wipe out...but to be safe, I looked back at the door...and guess who had just walked out? All the managers ;-) Way to be a calm cool and collected new CDM :-) hehehe. LOL. On my drive home I realied that my knees were bleeding into my pants. I am now in my PJs, with two band-aids on my knees and about to get into bed and sleep my humiliation away...untill tomorrow... ;-) Where of course I'll have to tell everyone and laugh at myself all over again...Yeay!!! Go Beth!! :-)

Early Thanksgiving Dinner

Hi!! I know, I'm late with the update about Early Thanksgiving dinner...but I slept all day sunday to re-coop from the efforts of the weekend. Seymen and I were PLANNING on leaving the apartment, we were all dressed with coats on and everything...and then the Perfect Storm came on TV and that was the end of it for us. I went and took an evening nap and woke up late in the evening for dinner :-)

Anyway, the early thanksgiving was fun. Jena, Julie (From work) and I met up after work and had a happy hour (or should I say LATE happy hour because I had to work late) and then did all the grocery shopping for the party, and baked the apple pies. We finished around 2AM!!! The next morning, Jena and I were dragging, but via cell phone finally forced each other to drag ourselves out of bed and start cooking. We started at about 11AM and cooked straight through until 6:30 when the food was finally ready to eat! (Yeah, it was a little late in coming...we underestimated the amount of time for the Turkey to cook, but it finally finished cooking and we were able to feed our STARVING guests.) By the time everyone ate dessert, I was beat. I wanted to curl up on the couch and fall asleep...but they had Karakoe and of course I got all into it and even sang a song with Chau...even though we sucked and no one could hear us ;-)

Anyway...I think I might be turkied out in the next three weeks. Alex is doing a Turkey dinner on Sunday that Seymen and I are probably going to attend, and then of course next week is T-day! Yeayyyy!!! LONGGGGGGGGG weekend!!! You have no idea how much I'm looking forward to not only 1 day, but 2222222222222 full daysssssssssssss off of WORK!!!! WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :-) Hopefully that will be the case and nothing bad will happen to ruin that.

Let's see what else...Well I've made a new friend at work. Julie...She was an editor and has now become an ID. She sits next to Jena...so we got to know each other better this past weekend. (Not that I didn't know her because she was my editor on the project that I had when I first came back to LMNK)...but anyway, she's crazy funny :-) We had some good times friday night :-))

Let's see...I never did tell the exciting news of Maki...She's offically engaged! Her fiance Richard gave her the ring this past weekend. She came over last night to show me the ring and help eat leftovers. It's very beautiful! Maki is sooooooo happy...and Richard was able to participate in the Early Thanksgiving dinner, so all of Maki's friends were able to meet Richard finally. Seymen and I met him before when he came to Rochester a few weeks ago. I can't remember if I mentioned that. Anyway, he's a really nice guy. He even helped clean up!!! Mad points in my book there ;-)

So, that's my update. I'm beat. I just worked until 10:15...and my plan for tonight was to go home and just read a book...but now it's wicked late...and I have to go to sleep in about 30 mins. Ohh well...I'm gonna go and get at least 30 mins. of reading in. Iyi Geceler (That means goodnight in Turkish) :-)

Tribute to Bayley

Hi,
I just wanted to put a picture of Bayley up front and center today because she's in a lot of pain and hurt her leg yesterday. My mom called at 11:30 last night to let us know that Bayley hurt her leg, and she can't stand anymore. She is using a towel sling to go in and out of the house. My mom slept in the kitche with her last night and Seymen has to go at 2:00PM and bring her to the vet. I LOVE YOU BAY!!!!! I'm going home at lunch to give her kisses and loving.

About to Kill Myself

Hi...I just wanted to let you all know that I'm about to kill myself. I'm frustrated, tired, and frustrated, and I wish I could go on vacation to Europe so I could not only leave work, but Rochester, and this country. Why can't I win the lotto and spend the rest of my years frolicking on the mediterrian, in some foregin country where I can't speak to anyone because I don't know the language. That's my dying wish as of today.

Rochester City Paper Review

My cube-mate Chad, used to work for Rochester City Paper. He shared this review of my favoriterestuarant Shiki, with me:

'Melts like butter' experience
Shiki's toro

Who knew chicken of the sea could be this scrumptious? You can forget about all those lunchtime sandwiches. And you'll have to quell all those fears of mercury poisoning. Because when it comes to tuna, the fattier the better. And we're oh-so-lucky to find the phattest fatty tuna (aka toro) at Shiki --- Clinton Avenue's little Japanese restaurant that could (and does). Order it as sushi or sashimi. Pop it in your mouth and just let it melt. Because it's really just butter posing as fish. 1054 South Clinton Avenue, 271-2090 (Chad Oliveiri)

Decisions Decisions

Last night after I came home from Happy Hour with some work friends, Seymen came come and announced that it is time for us to go on a mini-weekend vacation. So, being the supportive girlfriend that I am ;-) we say down and discussed our possibilities. One of which was to go back to Tucson, AZ to see Eric...or Chicago to see Vir, Adam, and Ben...but after discussing those, it was too far and I can't take any time off of work...SOooooooo!!! We've decided on a trip to Washington D.C. to see my Uncle Jim, Aunt Margy, and Uncle Don! Wahoooo!! I've been dying to take Seymen to Washington, D.C. and the Eastern Shore. We've always talked about it and planned on going when my Jim and Marg moved back to the Eastern Shore...but we haven't done it yet...But last night we researched tickets, car, hotel, and parking :-)

I'm soooooooo excited!!!!! And I did some more research and there's 2 Turkish restuarants in the downtown D.C. area. We hope to get much accomplished, including Touristy stuff to all the monuments/white house etc. in D.C. Drive to the Eastern Shore (Oxford area) and then see my Uncle, maybe in Annapolis.

Anyway, gotta go. My day has started

Better Late than Never

Hi!!! Well I should have posted Sunday night about my AWESOMEEEEEEEE trip to Austin, but our plane was delayed so I didn't get home until 11PM or so, and I was so tired that all I could do it sit on the couch and watch Seymen for 30 minutes before passing out in bed.

Anyway, the trip was GREAT!!!! Everything ran smoothly on the way there. I woke up at 4AM, took care of the puppies, flew to Austin, rented a car, and drove to Jennifer and Li-Wei's house. I made it there just in time for lunch, and then we spent the rest of the afternoon running errands with Little Mia in her car seat. She is soooooooo cute. I love her to death. She has a full head of hair, and sleeps with one eye open. I have posted pictures of her, but the only way you can see them is if you have the password. (This is to protect my little friends so their pictures are not exploited on the Internet...so if want to see how cute she and Izel are, e-mail me and I will send you the password).

Anyway, I was late arriving at Liz's house for girls night because we took a little longer than expected running errands. But!! Luck was on my side, because Steph (who had a prior engagement) was still there, until her meeting at 7. So thankfully I didn't miss her first appearance of the night. Shelly and Janet also arrived shortly after, and we had a great night of talking, laughing, and just catching up...Just like old times. (See pictures). Liz and Jason were so kind to put me up for the night, and by 11:30 I passed out on the MOST COMFORTABLE bed ever. It was so soft, and the room was really dark...I woke up fine in the morning, it was just getting the energy to get out of the comfy bed that was difficult! ;-) Anyway, it was a great night, and I had such a good time seeing all my friends and catching up. Each one of us has moved on to bigger and better, and everyone seems so happy and excited about their new changes!! It was very encouraging!

After I left Liz and Jason, I headed downtown to pick up my mom. We went back north so my mom could meet Mia!!! Again, we made it in time for lunch, so we sat and talked with Jennifer and her family. I was finally able to meet her sister Michelle. She's soooooooo sweet, and funny. She looks and acts so much like Jennifer, I was just in awe, looking back and forth, laughing my head off. After lunch, I was given the honor of feeding baby Mia, while Jennifer opened the presents that we brought, and took pictures :-)

We left soon after that and headed to the Arbortium for some shopping, found the cutest new store, I forget the name, but they had some really neat items, one of which we bought for Tracy and Ozan for letting us stay with them for the night. We left there after only 45 mins. of shopping and headed to Tracy and Ozan's. We all went to Chuys for dinner (see Izel pictures) and then my mom headed to her last conference, while I went home wtih the Talus. It was so nice to catch up with them. And Izel is HUGE!!! compared to the last time I saw her...Amazing how much kids grow in 6 months! Anyway, she's such a cutie :-)

So, my mom booked tickets that left at 8:00AM from Austin, so we woke up early, woke the Talu household for a goodbye ;-) and drove to the airport. When we got there, we found out that they had cancelled our flight...so we waited in line. Finally, we got to the front of the line, and for some reason the ticket lady must have liked my mom and I, because she walked over to American and dissapeared for like 5 minutes. We were like...ummm...OK? She came back with 2 first class tickets on American to Chicago, and (since there's no first class on the last leg) two exit row seats to Rochester!! We were PUMPED!!! I've never flown first class before, so it was totally an adventure. The only thing we had to do was wait until 2:00pm!!! So with 7 hours to wait, I decided to call Steph and James...Unfortunately, I didn't look at my clock before I called, and I definitely woke her up and dragged her and James out of bed to come rescue my mom and I from the airport for an impromptu breakfast. THANKSSSSSSS Steph and James!! It was really fun getting to see Steph one more time!!!

Anyway, we made it home in one piece. It was pretty scary the last 20 minutes of the flight because there were 60 MPH winds in Rochester, so our plane was bouncing all over the place! But it was fine and we landed without crashing so I was relieved. When I arrived at home, Seymen presented me with a new image gallery!! I am soooooooooo excited!!! It looks awesome! I have started converting some photo albums along the side, but it is definitly a Work in Progress because there are so many...And I am still waiting for Seymen to build me my own personal server with unlimited space, so I can share ALLLL my photos!!! But for now, this is a MAJOR improvement from the Web Album Generator. And I'm very excited that I can password protect certain photos, so I can actually post Lucy pictures, and other special baby pics! :-)

Bad Poster!!

I know I know!! I've been a bad poster lately. I know you hate to hear the same thing over and over again, but I've been so busy with work. I am not so sure this "promotion" was the best thing. So far since I've been "converted" my days have suddenly FLOWN by. I have no time to do anything because work is crazy busy. Anyway, aside from that...I have only cried once offically @ work since my new job started.

My dad and Seymen tried to prep me last weekend to be strong and not cry, but yesterday I broke down and had a little pity party for myself. Just a tiny one. It probably doesn't even count as a real cry...but my eyes were wet. I blame it on the fact that I haven't been able to eat lunch all week because I don't have time to stop and find food. But I ate today, and it made my day 50% better...And I even messed something up today, and I didn't even cry!! So that's major improvement.

Anyway, on a good note...we had our monthly meeting today, and I was given 2 recognition awards this month. That means $50 in gift certificates!! I still haven't spent my certificate from last month so I will have $75!! Unfortunately, they ran out so they will drop the gift certificates and our paper certificates off at a later date. I'm crossing my fingers that they drop it off tomorrow, so I will have $75 of free shopping money on LMNK...so I can maybe buy a new pair of shoes or something fun like that :-) But probably that is too much to hope for. I'm just hoping that I can wrap everything up and be allowed to take the day off Friday so I can fly to Austin!!!

YEAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! I can't believe my trip is already almost HERE! I talked to my mom tonight, and she's getting all ready. Her flight leaves early tomorrow morning. We'll both be in Texas on Friday, but I won't get to see her until Saturday! I'm sad because I was supposed to go to her house for dinner and prep for trip, but I worked late so I didn't make it...We're both excited that we get to fly home together, keeping each other company for the return leg of our trip.

YEAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! I got an e-mail from Elizabeth today about our Friday night Girls Night/Former GB ID Reunion!! :-))) She's hosting it at her house, as well as hosting me for the night :-) I haven't seen any of my friends since I left that bright April/May morning about six months ago...and yet, Liz is so good and remembers my allergies to her cat, and reminded me to bring my medicine :-) What good friendsss :-) I'm sooooooo excited!!! EKKKKK!!! I'll be independent Beth for a weekend! I LOVE IT!!! :-)

So, now I should probably go pack. I have been pretty productive tonight. I talked to Erin in NH on the phone, planned my weekend in Austin with my mom, I planned our annual Early Thanksgiving Dinner tonight, and now I've posted too :-) Phewww! I'm tired now! So I'm off...You probably won't hear from me until Sunday...but hopefully I'll have a BUTT load of pictures from TX taken on my new camera :-)))) YEAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY I"m so happy....Ohhhh and the best part. I have like 5 books to read on the airplane. Hopefully I won't be too tired since I have to leave for the airport at 4:30AM on Friday. WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Yeayyyyyyyyy!!!! I"m gonna see Jennifer, Li-Wei and Mia!!! Elizabeth and Jason!!!! Shelly!!! Stephanie!!! Janet!! Tracy, Ozan and Izel!!! CAN'T WAIT!
