Officially Done with Texas!!

I just called RIATA, and found out that I am OFFICIALLY done paying rent in Texas!! WAHOOOO!!!! I think I just passed a milestone there ;-) And perfect timing since I'm paying rent in Rochester again :-) Anyway, it's a sad thing too...since it is officially the END of my stay in Texas...and I guess that means it's time to start thinking about making a trip back to visit my old buddies...make sure everyone hasn't forgotten me ;-)

Anyway, onto the busy weekend...I had some good news on Friday! I received an e-mail from my former boss. This was addressed to me, and four other people on my team (that was part of the "old" Cisco group)

Through an unusual source, I have come to find out that for the month of August, you 5 out of the 6 CDD members listed for special recognition to Paul K. were my former teammates. It brought a smile to my face.
Well done.
Hope all is well there. It is well here. The daily work habits here are much different and, I dare say, (to my taste) a considerable improvement over before.
Cheers.

So, of course I wrote him back Thanking him for passing that information on, and giving him compliments on his great management etc. Not ever considering that this is something that maybe I should have known before he e-mailed...But he wrote back again saying it was strange that I hadn't heard about this yet :-) So, of course that forced me to do some investigation. I went and talked to Sue...She was another one of the team members that was recognized. Anyway, she said: "Ohhh yeah...You and Jena were both recognized at the last meeting and everyone clapped for you both...but neither of you were there...you were both working!"

So...I guess for August, I was recognized to the team and everyone clapped, and no one felt the need to tell me :-) (No one told Jena either, but she just found her certificate on her desk today...I haven't received mine yet ;-) Anyway...go figure. We were too busy working to get clapped for in person :-) But it's really nice to know that they appreciate us! And I personally feel better that I wasn't there for it, because then my face would get all red, and I'd probably cry from embarrassment... heheheh :-)

Friday I spent the evening taking care of my sister (Well pretending to take care of her). She had her wisdom teeth pulled Friday morning...So, I took her shopping for mushy food, (ended up buy more junk food for myself!) and watching DVDs with her in bed until my mom came home. I went back to my apartment late that night, and was woken up by Seymen at 8AM so we could get on the road to Geneva for an Auction! Poor Seymen had to work all day Friday, and all night...so he only had a one hour nap from 6AM-7AM or so...before we headed out again.

The Auction was SOOOOOOOOO cool :-) It was totally in the middle of nowhere...everyone who was there knew everyone else :-) All these old men came driving up in the their big trucks, and stood around talking and checking out the lawn mowers. It was an experience. Seymen ended up bidding on and buying a new mountain bike! It was very exciting! I was getting all nervous. It's a good thing I didn't have the little card number because I was getting so into it I probably would have bid on every bike just for fun! :-) Plus I still don't understand how Seymen knew how much he was bidding because the guy talked in his auction voice so fast!!! I could barely keep track of how much the bikes we're STARTING at, let alone people bidding for them!! But it was really cool, and Seymen was able to hold himself back and buy just one.

After the excitement of the auction, we headed out to Ithaca for Colin's Surprise 25th Birthday Party! It was soooo nice out, the perfect day...Katie planned a really nice BBQ picnic at Stewart Lake, right near their apartment. We just sat around, drinking beers, eating a TON of DELICIOUS food! Everyone played bochie ball, and I played a little wiffle ball (by myself, and once in a while I convinced people to throw the ball for me!). Seymen and I had to beg out a little early since he had had no sleep the night before, so we headed back to Rochester at 6PM. We made it home by 8, and then went to my dad's with the intention of dropping off his car, and fixing my flat tire. Unfortunately, we have diarrhea of the mouth, and ended up talking with them until 11:30PM so it was too late to fix my tire, and we were FORCED to borrow his car again for another night.

Sunday we were going to sleep in, but Seymen was called to work, so I tagged along until my English class. We had a really fun class. I brought my computer and taught my student how to use the computer...but we spent a good 45 minutes, just looking at my Turkey pictures. She loved them :-) I think she was a little homesick looking at them though :-( But anyway, we were also going to start reading a romance novel...because she doesn't have any Turkish ones, and hasn't read any in English...but it was a bust because it was a little too advanced for her at this point. BUT...Thanks to Jeff (from Guaranty Bank) who bought me the teenage romance novel from the library sale, as a joke, I think I can actually use that one to teach my student...since it's a little easier English. :-))) Anyway, on top of the reading session each class, we are going to start studying for her citizenship test.

So, after class Chrissy and I met Seymen at my dad's house so we could spend some time with them (again) and so Chrissy could see dad. While we were there, Chrissy was playing with the stitches in her mouth and ended up untying one of them, so she had two long strings that were bothering her. No one would help her except for Seymen. (EVen my dad wouldn't cut them for her!!)...So Seymen performed "oral" surgery on her :-) We got these tiny scissors, and flash light and he had to stick his fingers in her mouth to cut the strings. It was so gross...and funny. I couldn't stop laughing...I was holding the flash light for Seymen, and then Chrissy started laughing, WHILE Seymen had the scissors in her mouth. LOL. He got all mad because he was scared of poking her already sore mouth, and the two of us were laughing like crazy. When he started on the 2nd string, my dad came over and we all started laughing again :-) Poor Chrissy. It was really gross, and funny at the same time. Maybe you had to be there, but I'm cracking up right now, just thinking about it. Ewwwwww....Anyway, Seymen was Chrissy's hero for the day :-) LOL.
