Still here
Hi...I know it's been a while since I posted last. Anyway...Things are getting much better around here. I'm slowly over comming my fears of the bugs. My apartment was fumagated last Wednesday, and I've been keeping really busy. Thursday and Friday we had our offsite meeting where we planned for next year, and did a little team building. Unfortunately, Six Flags in Dallas was closed so we ended up staying here in Austin, and will go to Six Flags some other time. But it was still a lot of fun, and great to dress down for 2 days. We also got out of work really early on both days so that was nice.
I went to the University of Texas @ Austin, on Friday afternoon to buy my turkish book. That was pretty neat. THe campus is really beautiful, and also smack dab in the middle of downtown. It was also kind of neat to walk around surrounded by tons of people. I felt almost like I was back in college :-)
My Turkish class went really well yesterday. My teacher is an excellent teacher. It's interesting being taught by an actual professor, versus a student. It's definitly worth it to take the classes from him. He has a completely different style of teaching. Also, the girl in my class: Tracy, she and I are going to study together during the week before our next class. He wants us to be able to practice at home. After a little chat after class, Tracy has a similar situation that I do, with her husband. He rarely speaks to her in Turkish, and although he (and Seymen) are completely supportive of our taking lessons, it's very difficult to teach a family memeber/significant other. So...Tracy and I decided that we'll study together and eventually learn it so we can speak. She also wants to learn so that her newborn baby will be able to speak both as well :-)
Hmmm...Let's see. I finally got my own blockbuster card, and rented movies this friday night. My new favorite movie is Dirty Dancing, Havana Nights. I TOTALLY want to be a dancer now :-) hehehehe
Other than that, I just went on a shopping spree at Express. I finally found pants made for the little people in the world. I'm so excited. I bought two pairs (different colors)...but they are perfect. I can breath when i sit in them, and they are not too long. The ankles end at my ankles, not 2 inches below my heels. I can finally have flatter shoes!!! Yipppe!! ;-)
Anyway, I'm off to Heidi's for a few days to watch the puppies. They come home on Wednesday which is perfect because I'm going to an open air concert on Wednesday night to meet up with a friend of my Aunt's. I'm very excited to be getting out :-) But until then...I'll be at Heidi's playing the SIMs :-) Because I'm addicted and I have been waiting all morning to go back and play :-) hehehe. BYE
